life has it's ups and downsAfter being fired by a client recently, I needed something to boost my spirits a bit. Life is full of it's ups and downs. I'm grateful for the bad times as much as the good times because there's always something to learn from every situation. My down was that a client decided to work with another Realtor instead of me. Even though they were kind enough to let me know, it was a bit of a let down.

Real Estate sales in Wilkes-Barre have been quite slow for me lately, so it was a bit of a downer to lose a client. I wrote a post about it and had some very supportive comments, for which I am grateful. I try not to worry about how things will turn out for me, but this is the first year that I've sold Real Estate full-time through the winter season and it's not quite what I had expected. All of this has weighed heavily on me lately and I really needed a boost.

I got the boost I needed when I visited a family that I had helped find a home last month. They closed on it a few weeks ago and have been busily making some changes before they move in. When I visited them, they were so happy to see me and made me feel like I was the sole reason for their happiness. I tell you what, that's the greatest part of this job. They were so grateful for all that I had done and I was sure that I could have done more because I loved these folks so much. When I left them, they told me that they had sent me an e-mail. I checked when I got home and found this in my inbox:

I needed a boost

Dear Andrew,

First of all, I'd like to wish you and your loved ones "Happy Thanksgiving."  I'm writing this email to express to you my deepest thank you.  My family was very hesitant about moving to Pennsylvania.  That perception changed quickly after meeting with you.  When we first met you and you gave us a tour of Wilkes-Barre, PA; we felt the hospitality.  You gave us the push we needed in order to come to a decision and move to Wilkes-Barre.  We are very happy with the home we purchased.  It wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for you Andrew.  You helped us in every way possible and we appreciate that very much.  You were concerned about our needs and you ensured that we were happy.  Again, we thank you very much for your time, commitment and dedication.

Best of luck with future endeavours, and Thank You!

Jose and Family

There's nothing like a Thank YouFolks, this is what it's all about. This is worth all of the effort I put into each and every transaction. The happiness you see in their eyes and hear in their voices is worth every ounce of effort. You can imagine where I was after seeing them and getting this e-mail. Yep, the Top of the World.

In the end, I always know that my needs will always be taken care of. I have His assurance of that. Getting this e-mail and hearing those kind words is just another example of His grace in my life and shows me that He truly cares about how I feel. Remember this, If you seek first the kingdom of God, all else will be given to you. I lean on Him in good times and bad. He is faithful to show me the true rewards of my labors, when given from a clean heart.

Don't worry. The bible has 365 verses that say this. That's one for every day, so don't think for a minute that it's not on purpose. He means it. I hope that, by reading this, you will look to the care He has shown you in your times of worry as well. You'll be amazed at what you see.

Until next time...

sometimes its a blessing in disguise. What may seem like a good client can often be more trouble than they are worth.

Jeannie,

Thanks. This was my first "Thank You" letter I've received. I've had lots of other types of appreciation shown but this was the first actual letter I've gotten. It's definitely cool. Thanks for the comment.

Steve,

I've never had one be more trouble than they've been worth...yet. I don't mind working hard for anyone, as long as they appreciate what I've done. It's the ones who don't appreciate what I've done that get under my skin. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Suzanne,

It does make it much easier to keep doing it, that for sure! :-) Thanks for the comment.

Sally,

Yes, it most certainly is!!

Terry,

That's very true. We have a lot to be thankful for, but we miss it sometimes because we dwell on the negatives. I know I have to work on having a thankful spirit sometimes. Thanks for stopping by.

Tracy,

You know, I think I'm happier for them than they are for themselves. They were really unsure of the move at first and that makes it hard to find the right house. I'm glad this one worked out for them!! Thanks for the comment.

Missy,

That's a great idea. I know I'll be saving this one for those occasions when I need a boost. Thanks for the comment.

Andrew... this is awesome and yes, it whats this business for myself, when hearing it from clients like this.

In regards to the other....  I don't try to jump into religion, because everyone has their own intake on this.... but just faith alone is enough for me.

As someone mentioned, we all will lose a client or two, it's the nature of the beast. But yes, when this happens, it does feel great.  Thanks for sharing this and hopefully we will be able to meet in a few weeks.

Jeff,

Thanks for the comment. I still like to go back and read that letter. It confirms that I can get this thing right every now and then. I never try to jump into religion. I think religion has caused many issues and continues to cause issues with this world. What men have done in the name of religion has been terrible at times. I'm talking about a relationship, quite personal, that extends into every facet of my life. That's all that other thing is.

I look forward to seeing you very soon as well.

Jeff,

It's definitely something that I'll cherish. More so because of the timing of it. It's like a gift I was given.

Off topic, but did you see my last post? You might want to check that one out.
