That was my feedback on a Homer Glen home showing I had today. To be fair, it was a foreclosure and the squirrel didn't look like it was dead for a long time. Poor little guy caused some window damage trying to get out. Scratched up a lot of wood on the windows and ruined at least one screen we could find.
We didn't notice a smell until we went upstairs so it might not have been the squirrel. Almost smelled like maybe someone used the toilet that had been winterized, but none of us were brave enough to open the lid and see.
When we went to the lower level we didn't notice any further odor - maybe we were getting used to it. We saw damage to a few windows and I felt there had been an animal in the home. It could have gotten in through the fireplace chimney.
Sure enough, there was the poor little guy laying in the laundry room. I love squirrels and we used to feed our squirrels in our prior house that had some huge old trees. We would watch the babies grow up and it was fun hearing them "yell" at our dogs when they'd be let out (our dogs aren't much bigger and would have fun chasing them). I wondered if the squirrels were "playing" with them at times. Probably not, but it looked cute.
Even though we have some trees at our new house we rarely see squirrels and we miss them. A sad showing but my buyers might make an offer - a foreclosure that needs work but is priced right in a great area.
