For those who know me, I'm PURE COUNTRY when it comes to music. I find I lot of wisdom in country music songs. Recently, one that has remained in my mind is "Don't Blink" by Kenny Chesney. The song tells about a a young man watching a 102 year old man being interviewed on the news. The older man was asked what his secret to life was and his response was 'don't blink'.....read the lyrics of the song to see how quickly life goes by.
The reason I am writing this is that TIME really does fly by so very fast -- don't waste it with too much work and not enough time with family. Being the top agent in a town or company really doesn't mean anything in the scope of life. What matters most is what you have given your family in terms of love and attention. Money can never be a substitute for love.
There were years in the past that I spent too much time in real estate and not enough time with my family. My girls grew up and I missed part of those years by working too hard. I truly regret that. This is the time of the year to reevaluate how you spend your time. Make the best of your time and don't let real estate comsume your entire being or you will miss the most important things in life....your family. Now I have learned to set boundaries and work smarter so I can spend those valuable moments with my loved ones. So......don't blink..... Food for thought.
Don't Blink by Kenny Chesney
I turned on the evening news
Saw a old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said "All I can say is."
Don't blink
Just like that you're six years old and you're taking naps and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your better half
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink
I was glued to my tv and it looked like he looked at me and said
"Best start putting first things first."
Cause when your hourglass runs out of sand
You can't flip over and start again
Take every breathe God gives you for what it's worth
I've been tryna slow it down
I've been tryna take it in
In this here today gone tomorrow world we're livin' in
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster you think
Don't blink
Naw, don't blink
Kay,
Sounds like words to live by
Sincerely
Tom Braatz
