Sushi & Friendship - A Face To Face Meeting In The Rain

When I suggested sushi, I wasn't sure how it would go over. When you meet someone for the first time and they ask you to recommend a restaurant, it can be a tricky proposition. Sushi isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Lucky for me that Joey Aszterbaum, the Hemet Home Loan Guy, thought it was a great idea. Joey is one of several folks I've been in contact with in the rain. When we had lunch together at The Sushi House in Temecula, it was the first time I have had an "in person" meeting with one of them.

Joey "gets it". He embodies the true spirit of activerain. He cares about his clients, he sees the value in blogging and is a terrific contributor. He has a wealth of knowledge of the mortgage industry and is more than happy to share his expertise.

This won't be our last get together. I think we decided next time we'll try Thai food.

We were just talking about Joey earlier this morning! Does he really have pink hair?? LOL! I love him and I hope you gave him a big warm hug from me!!

Jennifer - Sorry, dear, no pink hair, but he's grown a beard now, looks good! I didn't hug him, but I shook his hand for you.

Tom, I love sushi! Thought everyone in California eats sushi, so it shouldn't have troubled you for a first date -- oops I mean meeting. It sounds like everyone had some Active Rain meetups during the holidays. I'm glad to hear that you and Joey were able to get together.

Invite me for sushi anyday. Well when I am on the west coast of course :)

Tom: I haven't formed too many lasting friendships over sushi. You either love it or you don't. I do have an upcoming appointment with a client at a local sushi restaurant - that ought to be interesting.

Brian - There are still a few holdouts. It was great getting to know him.

Desiree - Sushi is on me anytime you're on the left coast!

Ed - How's the sushi in Michigan? Joey and I both love sushi, so that won't be a roadblock. Good luck with your appointment.

Sushi would not top my list of spots to discuss business.. The deal might seem a bit to fishy.

Dan - Good one! This was a social visit, and it worked out great. I appreciate your concern. ;-)

Tom - I am happy to see that Joey is alive and well. We miss him around here. His name came up yesterday. What? No live photos of your lunch together?

Hey Tom! Well, sushi is a given here :) I mean...all different cultures here.

Isn't it nice to meet people we know here on the Rain and see them for the professionals (and real people) they are? I had fun meeting Kathy and her daughter last week and it proved to be a great meeting of the minds...and friends :)

Tom - Glad to heae you were able to make a face to face connection. It will be great when I meet a few in person myself.

Tom...it was a great lunch. Your story is a captivating one and I enjoyed hearing it face to face. Not to mention...that restaurant was fantastic. Next time, Thai food!

And here I thought that Joey Aszterbaum was just a myth. An Active Rain urban legend. Looks like I'm going to have to reexamine some of my bedrock assumptions. I suppose you will next tell me that Queen Latifah is not really a queen after all?

Tom, what a wonderful idea to get together. Somehow, I am unavailable whenever an event is planned in our area. I think you should have pictures of your lunch from now on. I rarely meet other Realtors I do cross sales on - it seems we never have time to actually meet one another!

Anyone in the Mesa area want to get together for a lunch?

It's always been fun when I've been able to get together with other Rainers. Meeting an 'old blog friend' over sushi sounds like it was a great time.

Do you actually eat that stuff?? My children both love it. Calamari...I think you're supposed to fish with it - not eat it! LOL
