Early on in the network states and people were highly competive on placement on the overall state ranking. This was a good thing, and still is IMO, because of the competive nature of our industry and it leads in to the evolution of ActiveRain competitiviness.

Washington is a competive area but it only has had a few power players change positions over and over. Ben and Karren along with Mark did mondo battle back in July though October but since then then the players have changed to incorporate Mark (He is still bloggin strong), Rich and myself (if I can be included in the group).

I have hit the top spot once or twice knocking of Mark but always getting beat down after making my move since they weren't power plays. The dynamics have now change since then (Mark and I were in different counties) and Rich, also a Silverdale resident and good friends with Mark, has made his first move tonight.

Sitting silently in 3rd I plan on playing the stanima game and patiently wait for my turn. It many battles consitency is usually a very high contributing factor. Though these two seem to have "fire" on their side my plan is to wait until they burn out. Know that they are going to read this post...I smile and will bide my time and wait.

With nothing better to do I blog and control the web from this crappy chair I sit in. So it sits that less than a thousand points seperate to friends and just outside of 6k from the Snohomish County guy and only time is going to tell how this story unfolds. Mark and Rich are nice dudes and pretty darn smart so this country kid has his work cut out for himself but there is a factor that isn't taken into affect: SERPs.

I haven't researched the SERPs in a comparison view so please excuse the boldness the that last statement :) I am happy accept, for now, sitting on the lower podium :)

<cheers...Mark & Rich>

Hey Toby! I welcome the day when we can all finally meet and cement the friendships we've started on here. What a great comradery we share, being part of this incredible community! I don't plan on relenting my position easily, but amassing points is not what floats my boat. Creating quality content is my bag, and I plan on staying the course! We're most fortunate to be in the State which serves as the home for AR. These are exciting days with even greater opportunites up ahead. I am honored to be a part of this historic endeavor with you!

I couldn't agree more Rich. These are exciting times and it boggles my brain that without this network I would not have had the opportunity to meet such admiral people; it is also a plus that we have the AR team in our backyard :)

Also, I didn't expect for you to see this post so soon...couldn't you let me enjoy my evil play? LOL, ah it is in good fun, out competition I mean, but like you said quality content is where it is at...maybe I should take some more writing courses so I can one day be on your level...business surely didn't teach me how to write ;)

I'm with you Toby. I don't write easily or quickly. Not everyone has the flair Rich has. He's hard to keep up with. But it is all a friendly banter (well, mostly). It will be fun to watch your "evil" plan. One thing I do know, whoever ends up on top will deserve it!

I haven't kept up with who may be climbing the ranks as challengers but as we keep plugging all our marketing efforts will pay off with quality rankings outside of ActiveRain. That where the blogging benefit really stems from. It is nice to be on the homepage (a great advertising position) but there are so many more ways to get the word out than just through the ActiveRain community. I doubt there will be anyone to out seat you two so you'll probably get to enjoy to through 2007 :)
