SO YOU WANT TO BE A REALTOR

By

The boon in the real estate market, during the last coupled of years, and thoughts of quick money have brought many people into the real estate arena who just plain shouldn't be there in the first place. With the recent downturn in the market, these people have been forced to go back to hairdressing, used car sales or wherever they came from, and well they should. The bottom line is that they just don't know how to work in a market where people aren't coming at you handing you money. The key word here is work, because for a time, they certainly didn't have to, and now they do.

The real estate industry is home to a professional group of men and women, who for the most part, deeply care about protecting the integrity of the profession. I for one, feel there is no room for the unprofessional individual who doesn't belong and serves to do nothing more than give our industry a black eye. Never before have I seen so many arbitration hearings, nor heard so many horror stories about the un-professionalism that have taken place during the last couple of years.

My thoughts are that I'm happy to have them go, and may the Naples Area Board of Realtors (NABOR) get down to a more manageable level of realtors, rather than the insane figure of almost 6,000 in a town of only 24,000.
