Every day is a good day.... today was special

I live about 20 miles from Boston, however, I don't get into town as often as I would like.  Usually, I get into town at night for dinner out with friends.  Today, at 6:30 AM, I found myself in Boston with about 30 minutes before a meeting.  I spent the time walking around downtown.

I tried to really appreciate the little time I had and found myself looking at all of the different buildings.  Buildings that are 100's of years old standing next to glass skyscrapers.  I started watching the people bustling along the sidewalks, some dressed in business suits others in hard hats.  Waiting to cross a street, I watched the people in the cars, most of which had a look of determination to get to where they were going.  Some where drinking coffee. Some were listening to ipods.  Everyone going along their way.

It had rained over night so the ground was wet.  It was a very warm morning, actually in the 60s in Boston in late November!  There was a breeze blowing and you could smell the ocean.

I just had to stand there and take it all in.  What popped into my mind was how thankful I was that I could be there, at that moment in time, to be able to appreciate and experience all that was going on around me.

Then I headed off to my meeting.

It's nice to see what most people take for granted on a daily basis. Sounds like you had a good morning. We could all use more of them. Have a great rest of the day!

Boston is beautiful!  We love it up here....  The only other thing I notice when running around the city at night is that people can be pretty rude.  It takes some getting used to being around Yankee attitudes.  It's nice to be able to come back home to the country here in Brookfield.

Martin, your picture and description of Boston brings back good memories for me since I grew up in Natick and Wellesley from 2nd grade through high school.  Haven't been back in about 7 years.

It is great to see someone appreciate somthing so simple.  I know many times I will stop and look at the falling leaves or the day that it actually smelled like fall outside.  If people would stop and look at a sunset or a sunrise for a moment, and enjoy that moment, it would make the rest of day easier.
