Here is Installment #4 of
The Upside Down Kingdom  --  His!

The Peoples Court.....

Recognize this face?

  • This is one of the faces that made daytime reality TV so fun!
  • Dispensing wisdom, insight and whats right to do with a smack of her gavel!
  • She not only tells what is right to do, but what a right motive, or heart attitude should be.

How many times have you wished you were in her court, or were thankful you WEREN'T in her court to hear her giving you the "WHATS UP WITH THAT?" look.

When we mess up or need guidance, God is right there to help us -- He does NOT give us the "You messed up" look either; all we have to do is believe He is there and he WILL answer.

James 1:5
But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

  • Life is not only about what is right to do.
  • It includes what is NOT right to do.
  • Motives can be wrong or right also,
    along with methods.

Which brings us to our next teaching by the Messiah, Jesus:

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."  Matthew 5:1-16

  • What do you do when you are hungry or thirsty? (Kind of a rhetorical question, hmm?)
  • When you eat or drink something, do you just eat a morsal if you are hungry or thirsty......?
  • Or do you eat and/or drink till you are satisfied (knowing you will have more strength
to carry on with your tasks in life)? That was another silly question.... hehehehe!
  • This is what the Messiah is trying to say ~~ Don't just settle for a LITTLE of what is right to do.... GO AFTER WHAT is RIGHT till you are satisfied..... If you do not get satisfied, you will eventually loose hope and spirit for what you want to achieve... and then you will give up.....

THAT is why you are blessed if you HUNGER for what is right...... if you
are going after what is right with a THIRST for it, eventually you will be
satisfied....

  • It's like the old saying......"I wanted it so bad, I could taste it!!"

Hungering and thirsting for right results in a feast!

Just think how much there is to gain
by doing things with a hunger or thirst
for what is right. Your WHOLE BEING
is involved if you are hungry or thirsty,
right?

But ~~ Don't just do it for the result
of money, fame, material posessions
or recognition ~~ those are just "things"
and they do not satisfy.

This goes right back to the teaching
by Jesus:

"Seek first the Kingdom of God and
His righteousness, and all those things
(food, money etc.) will be added to you....."

if you are keeping your priorities in
line, everything else will follow.

Do you want to do things the right way?

Do you care when things are not right?

You see, not only does the Messiah teach what right priorities
we should have in life, but it is integrated into the right attitude
about living to have also.

Live so you can taste Thanksgiving Pumpkins....
the good in it!!

Drink of what is right
in life deeply!!

Lets see what happens when we seek
what is right (or good) instead of just
coasting along or not caring:

  • Romans 2:6-8
God will render each person according to their deeds:

To those who by perseverance in doing
good seek for glory and honor and
    immortality, they are rewarded eternal
    life;

8ut to those who are selfishly
ambitious and do not obey the truth,
    but obey unrighteousness, there
    will be wrath and indignation.

  • If you know of something that is wrong and do not
stand up for the rights of the oppressed or downtrodden...

Then you are like a body of water that has been stirred up
by a stick... all the mud and debris on the bottom comes
up and the water is unfit to drink.

(I tried to find the verse that says this, but was unable to find it.)

So, Are Ya Gonna Hunger
and Thirst for What is Right
in Life?

Great post, Alex...

Yes we need the wisdom to do his will, to serve as he did.

I also looked for that verse, but only came up with,

Jam 4:17  Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

See It. Experience It. Live It.

If time ran out, I guess we will get to see installment 5 coming soon?  :)  You brought up some excellent questions for each of us to ponder.  I wonder how many people will feel compelled to look in their Bibles's for the verse you could't find?  I did! That is an example of Lord at work.

I didn't realize that mud was mentioned as often as it is.  For the second part, were you maybe thinking of a couple of verses in Isaiah?  In Isiah 55:1, there an invitation to the thirsty.  Then vs. 57:20 talks about wicked who are like a tossing sea, whose waves cast up mud & mire.  NIV version.  Each time I open the bible, I learn or hear something new.  Thanks for contributing to that!

Sondra Meyer  ~~~ The verse goes something like..."If the righteous stand by and do nothing while the wicked go on sinning, it is like a breach in a dam or the stirring up of waters..... the water is no longer fit to drink, but has mud and mire floating in it...."

Maybe it is a couple of verses strung together...and the Holy Spirit is working in everyone to find those verses, hmm?

Alexander, This is enlightening! Yes, I do hunger for what is right and good in this life. Nothing makes me feel better than to make another person feel better. Whether it's a smile, moving a chair or a simple pat on the back these gestures bring light back to our lives. I feel that one of the greatest laws in our ethics so follows the Lord's path. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. As one of God's children I know He wants all good things for us. So, if we hunger for the love and guidence of our God in Heaven, He will keep our plates full. Thanks for the lovely words. Deb

Alexander-How good that feels to be ministered to in your post.  Absolutely beautiful.  I have to say, I love this statement you made:

Don't just do it for the result
of money, fame, material posessions
or recognition ~~ those are just "things"
and they do not satisfy.

How perfectly said are those words.  That should be completely engraved in everybody's soul.  It's difficult, if I may share, that when you do something for other's and you know that God had such a strong hand in it all and when the journey is completed, so many turn to you with incredible compliments.  Each of those are very heartfelt compliments and not at all taken for granted, but when you know in your heart who really made that all possible, the recognition feels so uncomfortable, especially when recognition wasn't the intent.

I hope that makes sense.  I hope you have a wonderful week and may God bless you in so many beautiful ways.
