This afternoon I was visiting with two of our new agents at the office and we had such a great time.  It's so wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm in their faces.  They are so eager to learn the basics of real estate and so appreciative of any information I can provide them.

We've been talking about how to get listings and they just can't wait to get an opportunity to go on a listing appointment.  It is a known fact that listings are the backbone of any real estate company.  If you don't have listings, you have no buyers.

We don't know what the future of real estate will be in 2008 but we are setting our goals high and making a plan.  I KNOW they will succeed.  Why do I know this?  Because they are going 'back to the basics' and concentrating on the tasks that will bring the largest rewards.

Even after 34 years, I still get excited every time I get a listing or make a sale.  Real estate is a great business.

HI Kay,  It is a great business and I have almost 5 years under my belt. Every succesful event brings excitement. Helping others, whether they are a client, or a fellow agent is also a pleasure. Nice post.

The beauty of new agents is that you won't hear excuses about why this or that prospecting method won't work - they're not reluctant to try!

It is a great business!  It's not an easy business however, and I think that's where we sometimes get off track.

They will often sell all the old stock laying around  the place...

Kay:

I love your support for the new agents.  I personally love "newbies" and "rookies"...they are where my heart is.  Thank you for helping them and supporting them.

Congrats on your golden star thingy!  Well deserved in my opinion.

I get a lot of energy from new agents.  I always make sure my assistants and coordinators are motivated licensed agents, and they are a constant source of inspiration.  Of course, new agents are also competition, so I am motivated to stay a step ahead ; )~

You can feed off of their energy. Your right the basics are the place to start even for the "seasoned" agent.

Kay...

It really is nice to see the Rookies go back to basics. I am all about old school. Shhh :)

I love the Rookies who are opened minded and willing to learn how to do things the right way.

I think every new Salesperson should join AR and learn what it takes to survive in this business.

Which you and I both know is a lot of effort and an open mind :)

TLW...ROAR!

Kay, Thanks again for all you do!

Kay, it's great you are so positive about that enthusiasm!  Some experienced agents might have let it fade, but it sounds as if you'll harness that energy!

Kay - Congratulations on getting your first featured post!  We are "feature neighbors" on the AR home page right now.  It's great to hear about the energy and enthusiasm from the new agents in your office.

Back to the Basics...that is what my Broker is preaching these days, and those that follow do succeed.

Great post.  Listings definitely are the key to the business. I read a post on Activerain about regaining rookie enthusiasm, which I also enjoyed. We all need to get back to the basics and retrieve our energy. That idea is probably foreign to some agents who got into the business within the past couple years.  All they had to do is put a sign up and the listing was selling.  Now it is all about marketing yourself and your listings. Real Estate is a numbers game and I like numbers.  2008 is going to be a great year!

Thank you soooo much Kay for mentoring me!  It is such a blessing to learn so much from such an experienced agent as yourself!  Your enthusiasm rubs off on me as well!  I know we can succeed because we have people like you, Trey, and Brent who believe in us!  Thanks a million!!!

Kay, I've been trying to find some "enlightened"  bit of information that I could pass on to my real estate students at Blinn.  They finish the semester in about two weeks.  When I read your post - I knew this is something well worth sharing.  And, it does "feel" like you are sharing some of the enthusiasm.  Thanks for a great post.    Congratulations on the featured position.

Hi Kay:  What a great thing for you to do.  I'm sure those two agents are very grateful for what you have shared with them.  Keep up the great work !

Enthusiasm IS certainly a key ingredient to building and maintaining success.   Some of the agents that are now struggling have lost their enthusiasm and let negative thoughts dominate their psyche.  Getting back to basics and adding enthusiasm can have an amazing effect.

Way to go. It is fun and satisfying to help new agents find their way in this business.  So many never make it... but with a boost it is sure is easier.

Mac M - You are right, even after your five years and my 34 years, each transaction still brings excitement.  Knowing that I have helped someone get into a house or sell a house makes me feel good.

11/28/2007 01:45 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Brian S. You're right - new agents are so willing to try new things.  Sometimes it takes making a lot of mistakes along the way to find the perfect niche for each agent.

11/28/2007 01:47 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Lola A - Yes real estate is a great business.  It has its ups and downs, but overall, you can't beat it.

11/28/2007 01:48 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Sharon W and Jessica H - I owned my own real estate company for about ten years in the 70s and 80s.  That's when I started training others and have enjoyed it off and on all these years.  A few years ago, I mentored a young man and he turned into a multi-million dollar agent in the first year.  It was fun.

11/28/2007 01:51 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Mary S, I wish I had the energy the new agents have.  They are so lively and so much fun to work with.  I love them.

11/28/2007 01:52 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Trey, Thank you for your kind words.   I'm already lighting a fire under the new agents and they are going strong.  I'm glad I have the knowledge to share with them.  I enjoy it.  That's the teacher and mother in me.  Happy to do it.

11/28/2007 01:54 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Kay, I think you helping new agents shows that you are a leader. Do not ever change.

Hi Ginger, Guess you are right; I'm more of a leader than a follower.  Sometimes I do not appear that way but inside I know I am.  You are so sweet. Thanks for your comments.
