Oh the weather outside is frightful!! But the fire is so delightful...

With the holiday season upon us, I thought it would be appropriate to send out a reminder on the important safety precautions we need to take for the holidays...
Admittedly, most of this list is not news to you. But as we get closer to cold, frigid air ~ sparkling Christmas trees adorned with bright Christmas twinkly lights ~ the desire for baking with warm vanilla filling the air ~ and the warmth of candle light scented with holiday spices; the more attention we need to pay to possible fire hazards. This list has been compiled by myself along with the help of local firefighters. So let's help them to not have a job to do this Christmas. The list is below...
- Never, ever, ever, ever, ever leave a candle burning unattended. Leaving a room for a moment is okay, but leaving the house for a few minutes is not. You never know what can happen. So let's keep you and your home safe - blow out that candle!!
- Always, always, always, always water your Christmas tree. Due to the beautiful twinkly lights, you are going to want to make certain that your tree has plenty of water. Remember that scene from the movie, "Christmas Vacation" where the family cat is charred by a dead tree incinerating in one fast flame?
- Remember that any fire --whether in a fireplace, wood stove, or pellet stove -- needs to be monitored. Do not leave open flames a chance to spark and catch the favorite arm chair on fire...which will catch something else on fire...and so on and so forth.
Fire safety is a serious issue with very dangerous repercussions. Not only do you stand to lose the plethora of Christmas gifts you bought, you are also i danger of losing much more than that. You could lose your home, your life, or even worse...the life of someone that you love. Please be safe this season and watch for the future installment of the Twelve Days of Safety! And have yourself a "Merry Little Christmas!"

I will be watching, reading, and writing...
Hey Sarah, Great safety tips. When I use to have apartments many of my tenants would leave candles burning 24/7. Use to make me extremely nervous of a fire breaking out. I would go into a unit to take care of a repair and see the lit candles......
