to myspace or not to myspace

How many networking sites do real estate agents and mortgage professionals need? I have many ways for people to find me, but what I am also finding is that my name and information at the top of google and other search engines open me up to all kinds of unwanted spam and phone calls (even though I am on the do not call list). Most tell me that they found my name on this site or another networking site at their disposal. Is this this annoying? Some what, but the benefits are pretty tremendous so far. I have had many other legitimate networking contacts because of activerain and myspace. I am not sure how far I will go in giving personal information for others to potentially damage my good name or character. I also wonder why so many people pay for networking sites when there are so many out there that are free. So far, the biggest benefit of activerain I see is search engine placement. What are your thoughts?

Thanks activerain!

Active Rain, Facebook and Myspace have helped my website rank real well on the search engines. I think we are on the fringe of something great.

Myspace sucks.  I have an account, but after joining AR and facebook I don't ever use my myspace.  It is geared to an audience that quite frankly can't afford to buy property so I don't waste my time.

Vernon - If it wasn't for Active Rain,I definitely wouldn't be in nobody's search engine. I love this site. I haven't gotten any leads from this site yet. But I know that it is going to take time. Everything takes time. I just have to be patient and persistent during this whole purpose. Like you said, the bad thing about it is you get spams - I can't stand spams. But that is life, you take the good with the bad I guess. Great post.
