Wow!  Not sure where to start.

Toledo, Ohio was chosen to attend the LivCom awards ceremony in London, England.  Our fair city had been placed in the running as The Most Liveable Community in our population category.  We were among six other areas from   around the globe.

The Toledo Blade ran a story about our achievement, as a city, and we should all be very proud.  While we weren't in 1st Place it is very exciting to be in the company of other cities like Malmo, Sweden and Lyon, France.

I am just thrilled at this comment:

Toledo was judged among seven communities, and the city received strong marks across the board from all judges.

And when I was being graded on things, this would have been an impressive report card:

The city received an A grade for community sustainability and B’s across the other five criteria that include enhancement of the landscape, heritage management, environmentally sensitive practices, healthy lifestyles, and planning for the future.

And this sort of summarizes:

Toledo had been short-listed for the prestigious U.N.-endorsed award along with the six other cities with a population between 200,001 and 750,000.

As you can see.....Toledo is a wonderful city.  I'm proud to call it my home and welcome any and all to come visit, come stay, make it your home, too!

Hi Carol:  Well, good for you, and very good for Toledo.  From all the things you've share with us about Toledo, it looks like a very liveable community.  Yay Toledo !

Joan - Thank YOU!  As with any area there are pockets of naysayers that would fuss if they were hung with a new rope, but I think that this is quite an honor.  You should come out and visit sometime!  I'll play tour guide!

Karen - Thanks!  Toledo really is a great place.  We have our problems, as does every city I've ever been in.  But overall we have a lot to offer and some really great folks.  If you ever get back up this way look me up.  We'll go on a tour!

Lysa - There is a park not far from my house....Jamie Farr Park.  Interesting urban scene.  I'll have to take some photos and post them.  And then there's the Jamie Farr/Owens Corning Classic every year.  Toledo's native son....

Thanks for cheering us on!

Dan - Thank you!  The MudHens are awesome!  And ya just gotta love Muddy and Mudonna!  Stop by my blog again soon - never know what's going to appear!

Carol,

Excellent news for you Toledoans. Congrats. What really seems to be important to Toledo are things like environmentally sensitive practices, healthy lifestyles and planning for the future. More of our cities need to embrace those ideas.

Esko - We truly do have a wonderful city.  I would hope that at some point you would be able to come and visit.  My phone is always on and I am more than willing to host a tour and buy lunch!  The Welcome mat is out!

Carole - Any time you want to leave the hustle and bustle of Long Island, please come visit.  I would love to show you around and show off.  LOL  Thanks for always reading.

Cheryl - While I would love to retire to your area, this is home for me.  We don't have the mountains, but we have the best lakes and rivers around.  Kind of our own natural 'flat land' beauty.

Elizabeth - Well!  If you've never been to Toledo I am thinking that spring might be a nice time for you to do just that!  LOL  Come on up.  The door is always open, my friend!
