"I was going to get a database, but I like my paper system. It works fine, so why switch?"
If you are an extremely organized person, your paper system (i.e. address book, dayplanner, appointment book, etc.) probably does work fine... but it still pales in comparison to what you could be doing with an electronic database. On the other hand, if you are not an organized person, then your paper system doesn't "work fine"... it just works a little bit better than not having any system at all.
The organizational aspects of a database are important. Agents in chaos need it, and already-organized agents will thrive on it! Plus, a database does things for you that your paper system can't. For example:
It synchs all of your paper systems into one for maximum efficiency.
It sends you reminders for appointments, calls, to-dos, etc.
It allows you to categorize your different contacts for easy target marketing customized to your business and your clients.
It will automatically send E-marketing pieces.
A thought: If you had the option to use the old MLS catalogues instead of the MLS on the computer, would you? Would you prefer to flip through that bulky book, page by page, to find each listing rather than doing a quick search on the computer? I doubt it. You would probably choose the web-based MLS because computers offer us a faster, more efficient way of searching for properties, allowing us to do more business in less time vs. the old paper-based book method...so why wouldn't the same logic apply to using a database???
I use my Outlook and Centro for this, but still print out a weekly calendar because I really like to see it all spread out and tangible. I am a very visual person & this works for me!
