You can't judge a book by its cover

You can't judge a book by it's cover, but do you think potential buyers are judging your home from the curb?

Open your front door, walk out to the street, turn around and look at your house. Really look at your house. Envision you're looking at it for the first time …. Be extremely critical. What do you see?

Take photos of your home. Examine them. Have other people look at the photos. Are there reasons potential buyers to keep on driving past your home?

  • Get rid of outside clutter. Store bikes, trikes and big wheels in the garage.
  • Keep the lawn trimmed up and clean or keep that snow shoveled.
  • Pull those weeds! No one wants to look at the weeds around the base of the house or around the side walks.
  • Clean the gutters.
  • If your home has mold or mildew growing on the side - wash it or just get rid of it.
  • Trim trees and bushes around the windows, doors and walkways.

Your home should be a showcase - it is competing with other houses on the market and you want it to shine above all the others.

Now, go to the back of the house. What do you see there? Be just as critical.

Ask us what we think about your home's curb appeal. We'll be more than happy to help you display your home. We are the professionals who know what will work to make your home show well and what will get you the best price.

I will look carefully at my house, take photos and criticize my house. You are absolutely right, "You can't judge a book by its cover." Thanks for an educational blog.
