I didn't click there yet... I'm sitting at my Honda dealership, so don't want to offend anyone.
What on earth are they thinking? That's walking on some very thin ice.
Extremely offensive! It is possibly also a blind ad. No identification of the company??
Effective? Maybe. But I suppose it entirely depends on your target market. However, I would think that, if EKDAY really stands for "every kid deserves a yard", they're somewhat confused about their niche! ;-)
What to see something funny? Go look at their website www.ekdayrealty.com.
Apparently their out of business and without a broker for a little while. Now isn't that just precious?
Jay, first, let me say.... War Eagle! (Auburn Alum)
That out of the way, I'll try to fill in some gaps here. This has been discussed on many, many sites.
I think the most active discussion is here: http://www.futureofrealestatemarketing.com/using-sex-to-sell-real-estate-and-other-drama/
Yes, Ekday is an acronym for Every Kid Deserves a Yard. This video was made as a goof, and was never intended to be a marketing piece - well, not the way you'd expect. You see, I have a broker's license, and have had it for over three years. I worked for a builder for two of those years, and decided I wanted to work in a large gen real estate office for a year before opening my own office. We've always done things differently, and I knew that to be able to continue this radical change, I'd have to go it alone. For the other, real, commercials we've made, visit here: http://www.ekday.com/commercials/commercials.html
Fast forward to today - I was fired as a result of the video - actually as a result of me being forced to remove it or be fired. My business license should be in my hands in about two weeks. I knew this last week. I knew that I would be leaving my office and opening Ekday Realty, and assumed I would have to pay to announce this change.
What the video has done is drive over 200,000 visitors to my site. These are 200k people that now know my plans. This would not have been so had I not been given the ultimatum. What the broker unintentionally did was, 1) Underestimate bloggers, and the internet as a whole, and 2) brought up major freedom of speech/censorship issues with blogging, which is obviously a hot topic for all of us.
The story has evolved past the smutty video, and gained national interest (Inman News)as a story of the future of blog marketing. Did I expect any of this? No. Am I happy with the results? Hell yes.
Rumor has it, a few people have sent this to the Howard Stern show, and there's a chance it will get mentioned Monday morning. That should be another 6 or 7 million visits. :-)
I wasn't looking for people to buy houses from me based on this video - I just wanted people to talk. In that aspect, it was a huge success.
FYI - I'm on a conference call while I'm typing this, so it might not all make sense. If not, I apologize. :-)
