That name is taken - OH NO!!!!!

Linda Davis - Fox Theatre

Linda Davis recently performed with Kenny Rogers in the Ledyard, CT Foxwood Casino's Fox Theatre.  So for one evening at least there was more than one Linda Davis in Ledyard, CT.  One of my team members happened to be at the casino that week and captured the photo.  Of course, she sent it around to everyone in the office suggesting that the boss was entertaining at night in her spare time.

I don't know a lot about the other Linda except that she performs with several of the other big country names like Reba McEntire.  I've run across the "other" Linda Davis before....

Way back in 1995, I started my very first real estate website in Eastern Connecticut.  I eagerly applied for the obvious domain name (URL), www.LindaDavis.com.      OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!

Domain Name Taken

Unfortunately, it was taken by you know who.  I was really disappointed.  In fact, I still am.  But she obviously isn't going away anytime soon, so I think the chances of me ever recapturing that name are pretty slim.  For now I hope her name brings her fame and fortune.  Me too!

Talking about about domain names got me thinking about a few real estate agents I know who have a few domain names  - over 200 to be exact.  Seems like a few too many but I'm sure they have their reasons.  I have about 25 domain names which I use for a bunch of different sites.  Some names I have because I don't want anyone else to have them - seems selfish, I know.  I host most of my domain names over at Go Daddy. Angus pointed me in that direction a very long time ago.   Looking back on the early days, I'm sorry I didn't capture some of the obvious good real estate names - but who knew when Al Gore invented the internet it was going to turn out to be a winner!

Linda, 200 domain names? omg, seems a tad obsessive! I just purchased two so that brings me to three. I used Go Daddy as well for the last two.

Since you used Go Daddy, is one of your domain names 'Whoseyourdaddy.com?'

I wanted SamChapman.com, but it was taken by a Sam Chapman in England.  I don't think it really matters though.  My www.AustinRealEstateGuy.com site is getting tons of hits.  People will search for Austin real estate hundreds of more times than for Sam Chapman.

Linda - There is only 1 Linda Davis that matters. (you) But I missed the boat on domain names I remember when I could have had anything that I wanted (almost) but I couldn't get angus.com and I was so busy branding myself that I let the really great local names get away.

I have about 45, some I will let expire... but I'll keep about 30 of them.

I think you'll outlast the other Linda Davis-i haven't heard her name since that terrible duet with Reba several years ago! =)  i think you should definitely grab that domain Carole suggested...although she might have it now and be holding it hostage-

Leigh, she can have it back when she fed exes two lobsters (still breathing) to my house lolol  I'm kidding, I would never do that to Linda :-)

And I am bummed that Angus can't get the Angus domain. That is just not right. Do we know anyone in NJ or NYC who knows someone?' if ya get my drift

Actually....my maiden name was Mannella. My mother's maiden name was Palermini.  I have a few of those connections, if you get my drift.  I don't think they are into the internet though.

to get back to the original topic...what was that? oh yes...domain names; I bought clevelandpropertynews and clevelandrealestatenews along with carolecohenrealtor  (which I owned for almost a year without doing anything with it!) originally I bought it on Internet Crusade. Those guys helped me learn so much; but I paid a lot more for it than I would have on Go Daddy; I'm wondering, when I renew, if I can just buy it on Go Daddy?

You can transfer it but you must do it a certain time period prior to the renewal.

there was an original topic?  =)  I have 36 domain names, all of them pointing to various and sundry of my websites.  it's probably a waste of money but I've been trying to grab domains that sound like something people might try in seeking a website, if they don't google first.

Linda ~ there's only one Linda Davis in my book.  Who's this imposter?  What a poser!

Domain names...ah do I have the domain names.  Like you I have many just because they are mine and not others.

Someone I know owned a domain name that a big company wanted. She got paid $25,000 to sell them the domain.  She did.

I wish all mine were wanted by big companies.... )

Happy Holidays to you!

I understand, Linda. Even ten years ago simms.com was taken - again, some company in England.

What about www.LindaDavisCT.com to remind everyone that you are in Connecticut - it would be more recognizable than www.LindaDavisCP.com

or

www.TheRealLindaDavis.com   or   www.TheLindaDavisThatMatters.com

 Merry Christmas!

LOL I love Sharon's second choice!

Kristal brings up a point; a new way to invest; forget real estate, buy domain names that can be sold for lots!

Linda - I'd never heard of the "other" Linda Davis.  I'm one of those agents who has more domain names than I care to mention and I, too, have some because I don't want anyone else to have them.  Others I've bought in case I decide to move there, for resale purposes (I've already sold a few for MANY times what I paid for them) or for another business venture.

Carole - I think to transfer a domain name to GoDaddy, you need to transfer it at least 11 days before it's due to expire.

Kristal - I actually have one domain name for Denver, in case I ever move there, though I'd sell it for the right price.  :-)
