Things that we experience for the “First” time tend to be everlasting memories. The first birthday that we are able to remember, first day of school, first best friend, first fight, first date, first kiss, first car, first accident, first speeding ticket, first house, birth of your first child, well I think you get the picture. But there is one “First” that I did not mention that I will also never forget, and that is my first loan.
I remember that right after I became a Loan Officer, and before I came out of training, a friend of mine approached me and told me that once I was out of training that he wanted to refinance his house. I asked him if he was planning to do some additional work to the house, consolidate some bills, or was he just simply looking to lower his interest rate? He told me NO to all of these questions.
So my next question was why do you want to refinance? His response was one that I will never forget. He stated that we had been friends since he was a teenager, I watched him grow up, and was there for his father when he needed someone to encourage him. But these were not the only reasons, he wanted to be my “First” loan. I did not know what to say except thank you.
The whole time I was going through training, I looked forward to doing the loan, and wanted to do the very best job that I could at putting it together. Luckily for me it was not only my “First” loan, but it was probably the smoothest loan I have ever done. It was a great start to a career that I truly have enjoyed doing each and everyday since then.
I have done many more loans since this then, but there is none that I remember more clearly, or that was more satisfying then this Loan. I am sure that I am not the only one on ActiveRain that has a memory such as this, and who also vividly remembers their first loan, or the first house that you sold or listed. We also have several Stagers and Appraisers on ActiceRain who probably still remember the first house that you staged or appraised. Ann, I am surprised at you, that is like your first kiss. One thing good though is that it must have gone smoothly, because if it hadn't you would defiantly remember.....LOL
I remember my first real estate experience...
I put a sign on a quadraplex I was going to sell. It was 20 minutes back to the office, when I got there I had a call to show it. Within three hours after putting the sign on the property, I had an offer and that night at midnight (which was how long the offer was good for), I had a deal.
I sure wish they were all like that!

C'mon man....you are asking for to much after a long day. I would have to go back to when they invented dirt...I'm going to have to think on this one?
I remember my first showing - to tell you the truth, I am surprised I wasn't arrested! Here's why: I had been licensed for a couple of weeks and still had my training wheels on. Another agent in the office had set up a showing for one her of listings, a mobile in a park. She handed me the keys, and I, being very grateful, thanked her profusely and went on my way. Had never met the client before, she was just giving him to me - just wanted the listing sold. We met at the offices and took one car to the mobile. I had the listing sheet, and read the number off of it - unfortunately, the numbers on most of the homes were missing! So we looked at the listing sheet and determined that one on that road must be the home - looked just like it, ya know? So we pull up, I knocked on the door as I still do to this day (you know, just in case!) put the key in, turned the knob and walked in. No problem, right? We walked in - the place was SO MESSY! We walked through, but the client was most definately NOT interested. Towards the end of the walk through it, I referenced the listing sheet for an answer to something. Oddly, the place should have had 3, not 2 bedrooms! Guess what! IT WAS THE WRONG HOUSE! Talk about embarrassing! Never did hear from that client again - and me, think the first clue should have been the condition it was in! All I can think of now is - what if someone had been doing something we REALLY didn't want to walk in on or something - or if there was a dog laying in wait - wow! We took off, and that was that.Color me red!
I am now VERY careful about knowing exactly where the property is!

WOW, the "First" time! No matter what it is in our lives. The "first" time is always memorable, to say the least J
I do remember my "first" Home sale. My body still aches just thinking about it. It involved the SALE of my clients' home and the PURCHASE of their new Home in the same week. EXCELLENT right? Well yes, except that the Home they SOLD, which they still occupy, CLOSED a day before the Home they just purchased! No big deal, right? Well no, unless the BUYER of my clients' home is scheduled to do the FINAL WALK THROUGH two hours before CLOSING and my clients are still moving their things into the U-Haul Truck!... So, what is a Realtor ® to do? Well not necessarily what "I" did, but hey, is my FIRST deal and I don't to risk loosing it! So, I put my Super-Hero jeans on and started loading the moving truck! J The buyer showed up for the WALK THROUGH right when I was carrying the ENTERTAINING CENTER (She went way out of her way to be understanding!), we ALL went to the closing table (I changed my jeans and dirty shirt with a more "presentable" attire) everybody signed, then I went back with my clients to finish moving and clean the home.
Ahh.. that memorable "first" time! It's GREAT being a Realtor ®
