How Do You Spell Professional? Link Love for CRS designees.

 C-R-S

For the last three years I have been working toward obtaining one of the most prestigious real estate designations available, that of the Certified Residential Specialist(CRS). This week it finally happened and I got confirmation that I am being awarded the CRS designation. I had to throw a party for myself, so I threw up some left over Halloween confetti and blew my son's kazoo.

It's not an easy one to be awarded. For one, an agent has to have production numbers that are verified by a broker. You have to sell alot of homes in order to be considered...no "one home a year" sales allowed. An agent must also complete classwork and additional education that can take years to finish. Classes only come into town so often and sometimes we have to fly to them in another state.

I have to say, the classes have been some of the best I have seen, and I have learned many new things that will help me to continually strive to be a better agent. Remarkably, less than 38,000 Realtors hold the CRS designation nationwide. With over 1 Million members in the nation, those that are Certified Residential Specialists are rare to say the least. In Minnesota, only 3% of Realtors have the production to be a CRS.

So, I am curious, who else out on Active Rain is CRS?

If you hold the CRS designation, let me know in comments and I will start a list in this post. The first 20 agents get link love to the blog of your choice, either here on Active Rain or on your outside blog. Don't waste time, get your entry in before everyone else does! (This is a great way to let AR members know you are CRS and make contacts for future referrals).

Hi Jennife,

Congratulations on earning your designation and welcome to the family.

There are lots of us including a CRS group (I just found out about this one myself) here in the rain. Several of us from CA are heading to Honolulu in Jan. for Sell-a-bration, I hope to meet more rainers there.

Melanie- granted I hate that it took three years to get the designation, I am glad that it is fairly difficult to obtain and that one needs actual production numbers. So many designations are just classes and it feels like this one means something because I had to work for it!

Congrats, Jennifer!

It's not only a great designation, it truly is a great accomplishment. Yes, I am a CRS, too! :)  I found every single CRS class that I took very helpful and valueable.

Again, welcome aboard, Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, congratulations on earning your CRS!  I earned mine back in January and regard it as the best designation to date.  Right after earning the designation, I attended the CRS Sell-a-Bration in Vegas.  What a fantastic conference.  Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to Hawaii in January.  The classes were great.

Lynda - I wish I could attend Sell-a-bration in January as I hear it is better than the NAR convention. I really hate missing the Hawaii part! But we are looking to close on our new construction home sometime that month and need all our resources for closing. Guess I have to wait until 2009. :(

Thai - Thanks! I love the class content and look forward to taking the 204 class this spring. I was pregnant last time it was in town and about to burst, so I had to wait a year and a half for it to come back to Minneapolis. I can't wait to meet people.

11/29/2007 10:54 PM by Jennifer Kirby (Exit Realty Eden Prairie)

Brian- see, I keep missing the Vegas events. I couldn't go to NAR either because my son wasn't weened, now I cannot go to Hawaii because of my new house. Hopefully this next year will calm down a little bit, I can get some more business, and have some money to travel to these great events!

Jennifer ~ Sell-a-bration in 2009 is scheduled for Orlando, I'm definitely planning on that one. I normally go every other year of so.

Lynda- I am licensed in Florida as well so that might just be a good excuse to get back there and see some old friends as well. Amazingly I lived in Florida for four years and never visited Orlando. I might even be able to get the hubbie to come along as our anniversary is in January. Hmmmm...

Congratulations on getting the CRS.  I have a few designations, but that is the one that has the most meaning to me.  Sorry you won't be joining us in Waikiki at the Sell-a-bration.  We will be doing an Active Rain gathering at that time also.

Hi Jennifer,

Congratulations! Good job!  I learned a lot from the classes.  I still take them once a while as a refresher.

Randy- see how I miss the good stuff? It would be nice to go and also meet some fellow AR bloggers. Maybe the next year!

Catherine - I truly believe that if you can learn one new thing from any class you take, then the class was well worth the time and money.

Jennifer,

Congratulations on your CRS.  Now keep learning and get involved with the local chapter, I can put you in touch if you like.

I have just finished my year as Wisconsin president and I had a blast and really got more out than I put in.

Regards,

Guy - yes, that is one thing I need to get on and is on my list of things to do. Wow, president...what are you going to do with yourself this year?

12/05/2007 10:02 PM by Jennifer Kirby (Exit Realty Eden Prairie)

Congratulations, Jennifer.  I've had my CRS for about three years.  The Sell-a-bration is a very worthwhile event..I attended the one in Las Vegas in January.

12/05/2007 10:08 PM by Madeline Island Realty - Eric Kodner Sells Madeline Island

Eric - amazing how it takes a while to get the designation. I have actually had the production for a couple of years, but have been trying to get classes in when I can...having two kids in two years doesn't help matters either.

Congrats on the CRS. It really is an accomplishment. I'll keep you in mind for future MN referrals. (My parents both have grad degrees from U of MN)

I'll take you up on the offer for link love. My Leavenworth real estate website could always use help from AR friends around the nation.

Jennifer,  Congrats on getting the CRS designation; I can identify as I finished in November 2007 and received the designation.  Have found the CRS core courses to be very intensive and focused on the real stuff of the real estate practice.  Also found that you get a little CRS attitude by doing more than the average agent.  Am booked for 2 more in Georgia and was Googling to see where Sellabration 2009 is being held when I came to your site.

Congratulations on the CRS, I have been one for somewhere between 13-17 years not sure now.  I want to invite you to go to the conventions once a year.  They are the best a lot of networking fun and meeting new friends in the business. AR is a lot like CRS they share information and want to help.  Good luck and if you need anything please feel free to ask.

02/23/2008 07:04 AM by Susan Jackowski Orange County New York (RJ Smith Realty)

Susan - I have heard that Sell-A-Bration is one of the best conventions around. I really hated not being able to go to Hawaii this year. :) but I do plan on attending one day...just have to sell some more real estate to afford it!

Bill - I plan on attending the 204 class this spring and hope to learn alot from it. I have always believed doing more, via education, helps set you apart from the average agent.

02/26/2008 10:39 AM by Jennifer Kirby (Exit Realty Eden Prairie)

There is a CRS 201 course (Listing with Ed Hatch) on March 12 & March 13 at Brasstown Valley Resort in the north Georgia Mountains in Young Harris, GA which is approx 2 hours north of Midtown Atlanta if anyone is interested and I think they still have space.  To register, go to:  http://www.garealtor.com.

Congratulations! It is one of the most rewarding designations to obtain and the classes are great. I  especially liked the Investment class and CD they gave out. I have helped many an investor with what I learned. Been a CRS for 3 years now and will continue.
