Think of this page as your starting point or gateway for accessing everything you need to know and locate about Ocean County, New Jersey.   It's been designed to help lead you to the best information available online about Ocean County, NJ.
 
Ocean County is composed of 33 municipalities and located in South Jersey.  As of the United States 2000 Census, 510,916. 2006 Census Bureau estimates show the county's population growing to around 553,251.  It's county seat is Toms River Township (formerly named Dover Township). Ocean County was established in 1850 from portions of Monmouth County. 

Ocean County is the southernmost county in the New York metropolitan area, with the Southern part of the county falling in the Philadelphia metro area. It is about one and one-half hours from the metro areas of Philadelphia and New York and an hour north of Atlantic City.  Ocean County is bounded by Monmouth County in the north, Burlington County in the south and west, Atlantic County at it's southern tip, and the Atlantic Ocean along it's east.

Ocean County is home to Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park, Wild Safari Drive-thru Animal Park and Hurricane Harbor Water Park, the Albert Music Hall, the A-Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, dubbed the Lakewood BlueClaws and the Tuckerton Seaport, a 40-acre maritime village and the resort town of Seaside Heights.  (Source: Ocean County official website)

Ocean County is a mix of coastal resort communities, such as Seaside Heights and Long Beach, and growing towns (such as Toms River, Lakewood, Manchester, Brick, and Lacey Townships) providing a mix of suburban and semi-rural living along with quiet and peaceful bay shore communities, with easy access to parks, rivers, bay areas, seashores and relaxing beaches.  It provides a choice of  schools (public, private and parochial), retirement facilities and varied sports programs and recreational opportunities for all ages and skill levels.
