Yesterday I wrote about Counting Our Blessings, basically because the weather here was supposed to be rainy all weekend and I wanted to ride, but then realized that hey I'm where I am supposed to be and not stuck in some airport trying to get home for the holiday.
Well! The weatherman was right, I found 2 inches of rain in my rain guage this am when I got up, but the weather cleared and we were able to get the shovelhead out of its shovelhead garage and go for a ride along the Halifax River.
What a treat we had! Dolphins and whales are my favorite animals, dolphins are the hardest to catch in a photo though. Two dolphins were swimming right along the shore and we pulled right over so I was able to shoot off a couple fin shots before they headed south.
We were headed that way and pulled off in a park that has a pier that goes about half way out to the river and waited with a elderly couple that had never seen dolphins in the river. Fifteen minutes later here they came, our new elderly friends were so tickled! They must have found a school of fish because there was a huge commotion underwater close to shore then they come up for air, then came towards the pier and continued on their way south. What a wonderful Christmas treat for Steve, me and the elderly couple!
