Washington Square in Tigard, Oregon again has the breakfast with Santa

Saturday, December 1st marks our 5th annual breakfast with Santa. You see, every year Washington Square mall in Tigard, Oregon opens it doors early, and for $5 each they open the food court and cook up a great buffet style breakfast.

About 30 minutes after breakfast is served, Mrs. Claus shows up and has a little show that includes songs and a magic show that the kids love!

Then you hear sleigh bells... and she asks all the kids if they hear that? And she gets on her phone and says, guess who is here? Then the big man himself steps out and the kids go nuts! Then he heads to the front of the food court where everyone sings Christmas carols and each child is given a chance to sit on Santa's lap and make their Christmas wish.

This family tradition started with just my parents and my family 5 years ago, when I was the only one with children. But, the tradition has grown as our family has. Now my brother and sisters bring their families, and I'm guessing my other sister will probably be joining us next year as her new baby will then be one.

Here's to one family tradition I hope continues, and the party just gets bigger each year. I know eventually as my kids have kids of their own, I'm going to try to keep this tradition going, even if I have to kidnap the grandbabies to go to this event.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Sounds like fun Todd - and with breakfast served for just $5 this is a win-win proposition. I'm sure when you get old and the grandchildren come along that the kids won't give you any problem letting them go to the mall with grandpa.

Hi Todd,
Sounds like a lot of fun for the kids (and adults).  I love family traditions and doing things together.  Good for you and your extended family.  Have fun and enjoy each other.

Do you remember the excitement you had as a kid and how long it was from Thanksgiving to Christmas?  I do and it is fun to see it in my child now.

Linda - I certainly do try to have fun, if not I start to have fun at my childrens expense - lol

Judy - I don't either.

Alecia - Feel free, we still have to meet!

Cynthia - Oh, yes and it always the greatest time of the year. Our problem is we have a three year old that AT EVERY COMMERCIAL says "CAN I HAVE THAT" and we always say "You have to ask Santa"
