Peaceful AgentOn this, the eve of December, what do you say we all lean into the end of our year with a commitment to do both the things that will help us maintain momentum...AND...that which will allow us to eliminate some of the STRESS that comes with all the hustle and bustle!

1.  Say no!  I know that sounds like a negative way to start - but if you are anything like me - there are times in your life (or day) when you really, REALLY know that you should say no to something that wastes your time, energy, productivity or good spirit.  For example:  Bypass the office gossip, walk away from the instant messenger, stop surfing the web for nothing really important, and separate the lookers from buyers.  Respect and guardianship of your time has got to start with YOU.

2.  Get the list checked off.  How many "balls" if you will do you still have up in there air that if you truly took one day could you put to rest in the next week or two so that you can get them off your mind?  How many plates are you spinning that really have no relevance or remarkable impact on your personal, professional or family life but you keep them aloft just because you have been at it so long?  Prioritize first, and let go of those things that you are hanging on to "just because."

3.  Set your course.  I don't know about you, but there is something settling about having a plan -- a direction to follow -- as you head into a new year.  Sure, there are times when taking the road less traveled can be an incredible journey. So make wanderlust a goal for your personal or vacation time and keep your career on track with a written business plan, crystal clear goals and the ability to measure your steps along the way all throughout your 2008.

4.  Celebrate.  We're here.  December.  Holidays.  So, can we just go ahead and give ourselves permission to enjoy our family, laugh with friends, eat the darn butter cookie already!  Remember the care and keeping of you.  It is, of course, important to work to be the best you can be in your profession.  It is just as imporant to be the best you can be to yourself and your family.

So come on everyone!  Let's go make the most of the month ahead!  Oh...and to all of my new friends here on Active Rain...THANKS for helping a "newbie" this November!
