How about this for some silly lead generating...I received a call from a past client today who just came to town to enjoy our fabulous Naples, Florida sunshine. He called to see if my husband and I would be interested in joining him and his beautiful significant other for dinner on Monday night. We brainstormed on where we should dine and I agreed to make reservations and call him back.
I made the dinner reservation got back into my Palm Treo address book to call him back and then debated on which number to call him back on. See, his office number and his cel phone number are so similar I can't ever remember which one is which because I never took the time to make the extra notation in my phone.
So I picked one of the numbers and made the call. As Murphy's Law would have it, I dialed his office number instead of his cel phone. The man who answered was really nice. I said, Oh, I'm sorry this is Shannon Lefevre with John R. Wood Realtors down here in Naples, Florida looking for your partner and I meant to call his cel phone. He forgave me and we hung up. I then of course dialed the right phone number and confirmed our reservation with my client. Done deal right?
Several hours later I received a call from my client's office number. I picked up the phone and said, "Well, hello there" knowing full well that it was not my client on the other end of the line. The man said, "Do I know you"? I said, no you don't but you should. I'm Shannon Lefevre with John R. Wood Realtors down here in Naples, Florida and it's probably time for you to buy some property here. Well he got a big charge out of that and we talked for about 15-20 minutes. He ended the call by including that he is just about ready to purchase property here and might be interested in spending about a million if the deal was right. He also gave me the name and phone number to his cousin who needs to sell his house worth maybe about 1.5 million.
Not bad for a wrong number! Yeehaw!
That's quite a story. Just shows - you never know where business will come from. We all just have to keep working and maybe trying a few wrong numbers that are not on the DON NOT CALL list.
