Can you say buyers market? I can't believe the incentives that builders are offering to unload their inventory homes before the end of the fiscal year!  Plasma TV's, thousands of dollars in closings cost assistance, very large discounts off of the orginal list price, and bigger, better agent bonuses and commissions than ever before.  Some builders must be losing money on their homes at the prices that they are "giving them away" for in Charlotte.  Of course, I understand that these deals typically come about at this time of the year, but this seems a little more excessive than in years past.  I have literally been getting one e-mail after another from local builder sales reps in the Charlotte market.  It appears that now is definitely the time to buy new construction if you didn't already know that or if you hadn't already read your 20 e-mails today pertaining to price slashing on new homes.  I'm not really in the market for a new home myself, but maybe I should be!

5 Comments on Builders are offering crazy incentives!

Sara,

The builders here in the Dallas area are doing the same thing.

I was on a Home Inspection the other day and the builder was giving away a Lexus to the selling agent of his home.  Nice perk I'd say.

i agree. there are some great builder deals out there right now. i am seeing some excelent rent to own situations that would have never been used 2 years ago. it gives a buyer more borrowing power and the chance to get a better home than they thought they could afford.

Can you say desperation?  They need the inventory GONE by the end of the year and for the larger companies the stockholders are screaming.

PS as an agent do I really want to pay the taxes on a gift Lexus?  I think not!

Cindy- Good point about the stockholders.
