Anyone Can Have a Guard Dog.  They are easy to find.  They growl, they bark, they scratch at the door, and somehow they manage to scare away would-be prowlers.

However, most folks are not as lucky as I am.  I have a Guard Cat !

Her name is Mollie.  Mollie T. Cat.  She can be found at most hours of the day... faithfully sitting on top of the piano... right in the middle of my front window... peering relentlessly out the window... guarding my home.

What does she do, you might ask ?  Well... mostly... she just "sits there."  But... if you dare to come any closer to halfway up the front walk... Mollie T. Cat can be very, very intimidating.

Here is a picture of my totally ferocious Guard Cat.  Pretty scary, doncha think ?  Children, neighbors, letter carriers, UPS delivery persons, Avon Ladies, Domino's Pizza delivery folks, gas and electric company meter readers... and more... absolutely "freeze in their tracks" when they get their first glimpse of Mollie T. Cat... resident Guard Cat.

You see... Mollie T. Cat has this incredibly ominous "hiss."  She stands up... faces you... then arches her back with terrifying ferocity... and hisses.  I mean... talk about scary.

Mollie has become a legend.  Although I have yet to find them, I am told stories have been written, and songs have been composed and sung.  I hear that Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song about Mollie T.... just after he wrote "The Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald" which, as I'm sure you remember, related the terrible sinking of that noble ship on Lake Erie.

Even though Mollie has been immortalized in both song and saga, she remains at her guard post... absolutely refusing to retire.   Being the Brave Guard Cat that she is... our neighborhood remains safe... for adults and children alike... thanks to Mollie.

Hi Gayle:  Yes, that's My Mollie.  Fearless Protector of the downtrodden and the helpless.  And... she's a great snuggler, too.  Thanks for visiting... take care...

She's the RULER of the house!  I have 2 chocolate labs who do that for us...gotta love your pets!  I hope you buy her extra treats for being such an intimidator all day.  (she looks like my son's webkin "Hank" whom he loves dearly!)

12/01/2007 04:44 AM by Real Estate Specialist | Brandon, FL | Susie Roscoe (Signature Realty Associates)

Hi Susie:  Yes... Mollie Rules !  Actually, I got her a new bag of treats just yesterday.  Mollie the Intimidator... yep... that's my girl !  Thanks for visiting...

How great to finally see Mollie T's picture.  What an intimidator she is!  And all the while doing it with such grace and dignity!

Karen-

I LOVE cats!!  I have two cats and one of them looks exactly like Mollie!!

12/02/2007 07:37 AM by Rick Tourgee - Provincetown and Cape Cod (Century 21 Shoreland)

Hi Ricki:  Mollie has a very special talent.  She can be Ms Intimidator, and Little Miss Pris... at the very same time.  Yes... Dignity and Grace !  Oh, Darn... I thought you were talking about me !

12/02/2007 08:48 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Hi Rick:  Yes, Cats are very special people.  Well, Rick... I "showed you mine."  So, aren't you going to "show me yours ?"  Cats, that is... LOL !  Nice to see you again.  Thanks for commenting.  Hope everying up in P'Town is going well for you.

I am surprised you even GET mail and packages...she is absolutely terrifying :)

Very cute!  One night as I was watching tv a police helicopter swept a light down the side & back of my house, twice.  As I was sitting there wondering what I would do if someone broke in it occurred to me that the meanest ones in the house were our pet rabbit and a biting hamster!  I was laughing at that picture, me, a hamster & an attack rabbit taking on the "bad guys".  Luckily I heard sirens a street up from me about a half hour later, so I figured they found who they were looking for.

Hi Elaine:  Yes she is.  If you tippy-toe up to the window very close, and do your best not to set off the kitty, you can hear the hissing and see the smoke coming out of Mollie's ears.  Nah.  Mollie is a sweetie... just sitting ther every morning watching me leave.  Then she goes back to bed and gets under the covers... hoping that the "warm spot" is still there.  LOL.  Thanks for your comment...

12/02/2007 07:40 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Hi Chris:  Well, if you ask me, a hamster and an attack rabbit are much more intimidating than a sweet, purring Mollie Cat.  But I can just picture the three of you... fighting off the "bad guys"... keeping the neighborhood safe.  You Go, Girl !  Thanks for sharing your cute story with us, Chris.  Take care...

Hi Ginger:  Now, I have grown to really appreciate you commenting on my blog posts lately.  But... I just asked Mollie about what you just said, and Mollie, without hesitating, gave me the... "kitty finger."  Uh oh !  I think Bella may have met her match.

12/02/2007 10:00 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Karen, I was going to discuss it with Bella, but she is fast asleep with Roger on our bed. I think she is dreaming her usual dream of  cat & mouse. In her dream the mouse always wins...if  you get my drift.... All I can say is it's a good thing for Ms Miss Molly that she's in the Lonestar state.... Bella does not take to kindly to Bullycats... LOL!

Hello Karen:

As you requested, I e-mailed you a photo of my cats.  Let me know what you think.  I am convinced Mollie looks just like my "Gypsy".

12/04/2007 04:11 PM by Rick Tourgee - Provincetown and Cape Cod (Century 21 Shoreland)

Hi Ginger:  Well tell Bella not to worry.  All Mollie usually have to do is just raise her eyebrow, and most other cats and dogs just jump right into line.  And since I told Mollie that Bella is your dog... Mollie has given Bella a free pass.  Take care...

12/04/2007 04:50 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Hi Rick:  Thanks.  I will open up the email right now, and tell you what I think.  Thanks so much for the email... that was nice.

12/04/2007 04:51 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Hi Karen, Wow Molie has a soft side to her huh? Maybe she and Bella could become fast friends after all...Ya tink???

Ginger: With Mollie, just about anything is possible.  Now if I could only get my Visa card back from her.  She's quite the shopper, you know.

12/05/2007 12:54 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

How funny!!!  Actually, she looks like a beautiful cat.  A BIG one on top of that.  Does she really hiss at people?

02/26/2008 09:00 AM by Sondra Meyer (United Country Brazos Valley Realty)

Sondra:  Yes, she is very ferocious.  She rolls over onto her back, sticks her feet out at outward angles, and meows until you scratch her tummy.  Very Scary, don't you think ?  Mollie says she appreciates your saying she is beautiful.  Take care, Sondra...

There was a cat here in CT who would attack the mail carrier so they refused to deliver.  Eventually there was a lawsuit or something and the cat was on death row... I think the cat got a pardon but I don't remember all the details.

02/26/2008 10:43 AM by JenRan Realty, LLC

Karen Anne- Molly sounds like quite a character! I am so glad you have her to keep the peace and keep you safe from harm. My heart will rest easier for the knowing...:.)

02/26/2008 11:14 AM by Brentwood TN Real Estate/Homes - Vanessa Stalets REALTORĀ® (RE/MAX Elite)

Jennifer:  I cannot believe that you a cat in your CT area would be that scary that a lawsuit would be brought.  She must be pretty ferocious.  I do hope she got a pardon.  By the way, Mollie just told me she wants to me her.  Take care... thanks so much for sharing.

02/27/2008 07:29 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Vanessa:  Yes... a PeaceCat she is.  I feel so safe.  Vanessa... what a cute comment.  You made me smile.  By the way, if you ever get a situation where you feel your personal safety is at risk, Mollie just told me she is available for "road gigs."  I would have to drive her up, as she does not like to fly... but you are only a long one day drive for me.

When I drive to Washington... or as I did to Reston, Virginia last August, one of the Brentwood exits is exactly half-way.  I usually stay at the Red Roof Inn on Donelson Pike.  Last time, I wanted some munchies to eat on the road when I was leaving that Red Roof, and was looking for a grocery store.  I had to back track up Donelson, take a right, and then another right to find the Kroger to stock up for the drive back to Fort Worth.  Take care... be well...

02/27/2008 07:38 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Karen Anne- Please thank Miss Molly for me, I will keep that in mind the next time the boogie man comes..lol I think a road gig is definately in order, the next time wou are close you better call! :.)

02/27/2008 08:58 PM by Brentwood TN Real Estate/Homes - Vanessa Stalets REALTORĀ® (RE/MAX Elite)

Vanessa:  I will do it.  Right now I am planning... if the plan stays put... I am planning to drive from Fort Worrth to Reston, Virginia in Mid-August for a three day conference, and would love to get together with you.  Take care... be well... Mollie sends her love, as do I.  :)

02/27/2008 11:46 PM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

Karen, too cute! She is a very pretty girl, we have three cats but being that they are Ragdolls they pretty much would roll over and invite any intruder to scratch their bellies! Basil however is more content to sun bathe than stand guard...see  below.

02/28/2008 12:59 AM by Emily Hagerman & Alexandra Fletcher (Celebrate Home Staging Design)

Alexandra and Emily:  They are just simply adorable.  Many cats have figured out that their main job... is simply to just look adorable.  Thanks for sharing them with me.  Take care...

02/28/2008 01:31 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

My cat needs a job!  She thinks she owns the place.  At least Mollie is "earning her keep!"

Nannette:  No, my dear.  The problem is not with your cat.  The problem is with you.  I just spoke with your cat.  She says that you... think you make the rules.  She is frustrated because you are unaware that... while dogs have "owners..." cats have "staff."  Take care, Nannette.  Thanks for your comment.

02/28/2008 09:00 AM by Fort Worth Real Estate - - - Karen Anne Stone (RE/MAX Trinity)

LOL Karen!  Thanks for setting me straight.  Now all this makes sense!  Oh how silly of me!

Nannette:  I forgive you.  Mollie says she's still thinking about it.  LOL.

Karen Anne, it's her house now, don't forget! In a kitties world you belong to her! No if's and's or but's. She virtually decides who is able to come and go. I will just bet you get a purr out of her. She's awesome. Later in the rain~Deb

02/28/2008 06:41 PM by Deb at Brooks Prime Properties

Debra:  Mollie reminds me of that on a daily basis.  Actually, whenever I call anyone from my home phone, and if the person I am calling has called ID... they ask me... who is Mollie T Cat ?  You see, even the phone is in Millie's name.  I very much know I live here only because Millie lets me.  Debra... Mollie thanks you for your kind words.  Take care...
