This is great information if you would like to camp. Peanut Island is off of Singer Island, Fl at the Lake Worth Inlet. It is a great place to hangout for the day or go camping.
Camping on Peanut Island is excellent. These photos are from the Palm Beach County maintained pay campground on the island's east side.
There are rest rooms with a campground only shower area, pay phone, tent pads, picnic tables and a fire ring. Campsites are nestled between palm trees and nice landscaping. It's beautiful! Views include the Blue Heron Bridge and Lake Worth Inlet.
The county charges fees to stay here. It limits the number of kids at each site. Primitive camping is available free of charge on Peanut Island's west side.
Bring your camping gear by boat or by water taxi. The campground can NOT be accessed by car or on foot. After the park closes, the boat dock is reserved exclusively for campers.
The campground is generally full every weekend "in season" (October-April) when nights are cooler. There is good campsite availability during the summer. Don't forget the bug spray! Fires are permitted only in the official campfire ring.
Local knowledge: Camping is by permit only. It costs $16.50/night. Check-in is 1pm, check-out is 11am. There is a three night limit. There is a maximum of 6 people per tent site. Reservations are accepted 90 days in advance, once every sixty days. Make reservations by calling (561) 845-4445. The campground/dock office also monitors VHF channel 16.
