I just finished this book, PEAK,  by Chip Conley, CEO and founder of Joie de Vivre Hospitality. It ranged from conversational to textbook in tone, so many people might give up on it, and miss the rest of the AHAs. I enjoyed reading Maslow decades ago, so enjoyed the comparisons. Conley shows how to relate Maslow's pyramids to customers, employees and investors (or bosses). For each he shows basic expectations (if you don't make enough money to pay for food and shelter you don't care about the things higher up in the pyramid), then recognition, then inspiration. It's the last that creates Evangelists for us.

Maslow got it right. Yet it should be such common sense. Unfortunately, as the saying goes, comon sense isn't all that common.  If you want to succeed you have to get others on the same page.  That means meeting them where they are at, not where you are at or where you want them to be.   

Meeting people where they are at works most of the time.

Never read Maslow - any particular AHA's you would care to share?

Rick - I've been telling my husband that for years, that common sense isn't all that common.

Matthew - I'll have to think about that for another post - my Saturday night brain doesn't remember. That's also why I highlight all the books I read.
