Ah, Pennsylvania....

I cannot believe that is the first of December and we haven't had measurable snow in Western PA.  That is really bizarre!  Raise your hand if you remember complaining that your snow boots didn't match your Halloween costumes!

The weather has gotten pretty cold this past week.  I also saw that KDKA, WPXI, WTAE, and even the Fox affiliates agree that a wintry mix is on it's way this weekend.

Good news for the deer hunters.

Bad news for people who might not have a winter coat.

YOU CAN HELP!

The Cranberry Township Community Chest (CTCC) is sponsoring a community-wide winter clothing drive druing the month of December.

Starting December 1, donations of new and gently used winter clothin can be dropped off at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building.

Monday through Friday 7AM to 9PM

Saturday 9am to 4PM

Sunday 1PM to 4PM

Items that are especially needed are winter coats for school-age children and adult men.

Also needed are all winter coats, snow pants, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves, ear muffs, boots, and blankets.

If your kids or spouse has outgrown their coat, drop it off when you are doing your Christmas shopping.

Thanks for your help!

Don't worry Jane I am sure you will get plenty of snow before the winter is over.

Okay, John, I almost deleted that comment!  You keep those bad vibes to yourself!  haha

It has finally decided to get cold here in NC too. We are supposed to be in the 20's late next week. We will leave the snow to you guys. I love snow but people here don't know how to drive in it. Have a great weekend.

Southeatern Michigan is no charmer either though the snow we have had so far still allows the grass to stick up through it.  Three cheers for the $42 part that brought our furnace back to life and the foresight to have a second furnace installed when we added on to the house a few years ago - at least part of the place had heat.  I grew up in Pennsylvania and Halloween was pretty iffy - summer clothes or snowsuits - same with Easter!

I was wondering if the weather was going to make up its mind.  It is finally cold here that the outside plants had finally died off from the frost.  Jayne, don't worry, I think you may see some snow by the end of the weekend.  Take pictures, next week it may hit 65!

Jayne,

I remember being below zero for the first day of buck season in NW PA.

After 21 years in Clarion, I am now in North Carolina.

It dipped down to about 40 degrees last night, and seems like winter will never end.

I might have  to start wearing socks...

Lisa,  We always have a couple of days when it starts to snow when people have forgotten how to drive in snow.  It's ridiculous.

Susan,  EASTER!  Sundresses with snow pants!

Kelly, Your picture on your profile page is GORGEOUS!!

Mike, I grew up close to Clarion, near Franklin.
My little sister attended therapy sessions at Clarion University, so I spent a lot of time there.
ALF was strange this year - the weather didn't give the predictable colors!

Jayne, In my childhood days, the dark ages, we had a big deal about choosing Easter hats and purses and we even had spring coats that were just for church.  One Easter, mid-April, we had a blizzard that dropped 18 inches of snow and wrapped up just before Easter morning services.  I remember walking in the tire tracks down the middle of the main road in our winter clothes but wearing our Easter hats.  I WISH I had been encouraged to wear my winter hat too since my ears nearly froze and fell off!

Snow? Hmmm I would gladly send you all the snow Michigan gets! I only ask that you let us have it back for Christmas day, I take my boys sledding. After that you can have it all year round.

Jayne,

Nope, we got the color in North Carolina.  Trees Afire!

Our drought brings out the color.

I haven't been to ALF since 2000, but I hear it is absolutely thriving.

Jayne,

Great cause...I have sent an email to my Buddy in Craneberry....hopefully he will make the calls to all he knows and beat the drum for the cause.

Good Luck.

Hi, Jayne

We're in the same boat.  Although we came close Wednesday night we haven't even hit 0 yet.  That's pretty unusual for us.  We're all waiting on the snow to start falling in earnest.  Right now we only have about 7" or so.  Nice job on the clothing drive!

Jayne, you're right, it is getting colder.  Today, it was only 57 degrees.  My toes were so cold ;-)

I'm sorry, just being mischievous!  Your meez looks very cozy, but she need some uggs.  I'm worried about her toes.

Jayne~

Thank you for the compliment!  That picture was taken Thanksgiving day at sunrise at Island Beach State Park.  As you can tell we are total beach bums.  Thank you again!

Jayne, it snowed like crazy here in Minneapolis today, so maybe it's headed your way!

Jayne-I do not like the cold weather at all.  As soon as it hits in the 60 I have a jacket on.  I can't imagine being your weather anymore...as a could I could take it..not so sure now.  What a great thing for the community.  It's sad to me... but so real.

Okay, I jinxed myself!! Five inches of the cold white stuff over the last 2 days!!!  Oh, and a new "record low temperature" this morning of NEGATIVE 9.

We really need those coats now!!!
