Ellen Reed over at sustainabuild can ALWAYS be counted on to post some insightful and helpful information and she has done it again with this post on the cost of going green.

A short quote from the site:  "Rising Energy Concerns Buoy Green Building Industry

Ever-Increasing Energy Costs Boosting Demand for Sustainability in Corporate Real Estate, But is it Enough to Overcome Green Building Barriers?"

That should be enough to make you want to read more. So click on the link and jump over to sustainabuild.

2 Comments on The Cost of Going Green In Real Estate. Is it real or perceived?

I seldom will go to another site to read a post... if I do, I comment less frequently.

The market will drive "green" building.  This is already proving to be the case.  As energy costs rise, businesses will adopt more efficient practices because it makes sense.  Regulation only causes long term problems, and doesn't push the providers of the technology to be more efficient.

The government is not the answer.

Sorry Lane.  I didn't copy and paste the entire thing because it is already cited from another source on that site and it says what it needs to say very well without being paraphrased.
