I have made Internet marketing a huge part of my day.  More now than ever...because I am getting prepared.  See for some the web may come easy and you have no problem keeping up on things but for me sometimes I really struggle.

Struggle with my mindset, habits and most of all lack of looking at the future..it's the present so many of us focus on.  I am one of those people.

The Internet is an amazing thing.  It's communication, it's efficient and allows us to do more every single day.

I now order take out on line, bank on-line and pay bills on-line.

I communicate more often with my long lost friends, I educate myself, I shop and build my business.

The Internet allows me to do all of that and so much more.

I have time to talk on the phone with my friends and family.

I can spend more time with my friends and family.

Ir gives us power and freedom and much much more.

I really didn't think social networking would be so big but the Power's to Be Knew it!  They understood it!  They're a bunch of kids, what do they know?

Oh no, I swore when I got older I wouldn't act this way and definitely I swore to never ever think this way!  But hey I hate to admit I was doing it.

Some may not agree with me but you know what, we have to change, we have to accept and we have to embrace ....technology....change...and be open.

When I started on the network I think it was June 05, 2006..not many of us...our blogging?????our comments????? I hate going back there.  Beta?  Can't recall.  But hey I wanted to try it. As time went on... I knew I really knew...how things would eventually be.

I believed in it then and I really believe in it now.  My outside experiences have really taught me that nothing and I really believe nothing gives better Search Engine Results than my good old Activerain.

Last night, I wanted to write one more post for the Problogger MyBlogLog contest but I didn't have it in me.  It turns out I was in 31st place in the top 100.  I was watching very closely and e-mailing back and forth with a few of the participants.

Without Activerain I would have never taken that opportunity.

Why did I think I had a shot at winning?

Honestly I didn't that was not my goal!

I read the rules and it stated the top 100 list would remain up so the public could view it.

In my mind that is all I had to do to get the benefits....the extra marketing...I did just that!

Next I received a special invite from FuelMyBlog to be in the book, "The Human Behind The Avatar"

I was really honored and excited as the community decided to send the 15% commission we would earn on each book to the charity Doctors Without Borders/ Medicins Sans Frontiers

To me I was so flattered.

So thinking of my photo for the book.  I really gave it some thought.

One of the rules was what blogging has given you and what is your blog about.

To me I tried to put in into words for some reason it did not come easy.

Blogging has given me more...more than I ever give it credit and who started this mess...for me....Activerain.

So I ask is Activerain fad or are the powers to be pioneers...in my mind...Pioneers that I struggle with.... my love hate relationship with Activerain...the ever changing Activerain....those kids...yes, they knew!

They knew they could change the face of communication..they knew they could build a community...and you know what...sometimes...I love them...sometimes...I hate them...but the truth is... in my mind I do need them. Just as Activerain has paid it forward....so I am....

This is my photo for my page.

This is not a paid endorsement, I am actually a member!

Hi Midori;

Great Post and super information. Keep the good post coming.

12/01/2007 12:12 PM by Anthony Stokes-Pereira (Prudential Rand Realty)

Great post!  I'm learning so much being in the rain.  I can't believe how many doors it's opening.  I can hardly keep up.

12/01/2007 12:14 PM by Linda Sanderson (Coldwell Banker Solano Pacific)

Midori - Love the post and congratulations on being asked to contribute to the book! Think your picture is clever! Go Active Rain!!

12/01/2007 12:15 PM by Gilbert Arizona Real Estate - Candace Robinson (HomeSmart )

Hey Midori,

Fads come and go....Active-Rain doesn't fit that bill in my estimation.  I look around at the astounding talent and diversity of prose around here and I LOVE it!  While there are those I'm not too fond of and things I down right loathe here, Nature of the Beast and I'm fine with it.  As long as contributors such as yourself continue to add input and insight, the Rain will be around for awhile.

12/01/2007 12:19 PM by Jason Sardi, Pennsylvania Mortgage Broker (First Choice Equity Group Inc.)

Kinda curious posting...has Active Rain created any real prospective buyers or sellers for anyone or is it a networking site/platform for Realtor and real estate vendor types only?

12/01/2007 12:23 PM by Mark Lomas (Frank Howard Allen Realtors)

It is funny that you comment on this ... I am writing a section of the upcoming Trends Report that specifically discusses Social Networking and the influence on the marketplace

12/01/2007 12:54 PM by Allen Wright CNS, AHS, REPS (RealtyU)

Midori - I am impressed with your accomplishments.  Active Rain founders had a vision and it worked!  It is not a fad, it will be with us permanently.  I find it the most important new idea I have discovered in years. I just joined two months ago and I'm having a ball.

12/01/2007 12:55 PM by Aggie Networking Kay Perry, A&M Class of '94 & '97 (Classic Realty, Inc./GMAC)

Anthony-Thank you and as long as I have readers I will continue to post.

12/01/2007 02:10 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Linda-do your best and work on getting better.  I live by it and swear by it.  We strive to be number 1 but the truth is its all about getting better.  This has been a journey...a long journey but a journey I would do again.

12/01/2007 02:12 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Candace-my picture was lots of fun to create and as usual I waited for the last minute!  You can't see it but there were 7 tabs across my screen.....I just spotlighted what works best for me!  If it wasn't for activerain....many things in my life would not have occured.  I am greatful for each and every experience.

Also Fuelmyblog and mybloglog are yahoo products...in my mind it would only help my marketing efforts and get my name out there!

12/01/2007 02:14 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Jason-I agree!  I have learned from so many...imagine if we weren't here..how many fewer people we would know....how much knowledge would we have not gain..terrible thought for me!

12/01/2007 02:16 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Mark-for me it has been awesome!  I would not have met Neal Bloom, my parents realtor, I would not have had the guts to join some of these contests, I just recently picked up a listing, my previous post, and they liked my profile...I recieved 2 referrals because of my presence here....  I am splattered all over  the net.

The post before that was about Terri Hewitt, she will tell you after reading my blogs she knew that Century 21 Sundance realty was the company to be.  A seasoned agent...a recruit...

Then there is the benefits of talking to people in my area...they too say the same thing...you are all over the net...To me that is what it is about.

12/01/2007 02:20 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Allen-its a big part of our lives and I can't wait to read your posts....really if you think about the big picture...there is much more to come.

12/01/2007 02:21 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Aggie-it gets better..as time goes on ....we get better...we learn more...and in the process we have fun and socialize.  To me it doesn't get better than that!

12/01/2007 02:22 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Midori thank you for your words of encouragement, and congratulations to you on your many accomplishments.

12/01/2007 02:24 PM by Linda Sanderson (Coldwell Banker Solano Pacific)

Not too much time on my hand Neal...a real reality check.and honestly doing my job..my goals are different form yours...I have been updating all of my online marketing for a month now and I see the results.  I get the e-mails and the calls.  You are right build...build...build...but the truth is I need activerain to get there....I know it...I acknowledge it and I accept it!  Its a love hate thing...

12/01/2007 02:24 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Linda-my pleasure...you just keep writing and you will see!  Will check back in later...have a hot date...and the installation of officers at our Daytona Beach board...our own Nancy Dance is president for 2008.  Then a rendezvous with the hubby...oceanfront.

12/01/2007 02:26 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Hi Midori... I've been busier than ever so I'm just catching up on my reading. After going thru your post it looks like you've been super busy as well. I'm a big fan of Problogger, being # 31 out of 100 is excellent, let us know how it turns out. Have a great weekend.

12/01/2007 02:40 PM by The Blog Artist - marti garaughty (The Art Of Marketing You)

Hi Midori - I saw a quick mention of the Problogger contest a couple of weeks ago but haven't been back to it. That's great that you're up to 31! I see ActiveRain as a springboard or launching pad. Several Rainers have gone on to build successful outside blogs, and many of us are now exploring other social networking sites with wider audiences. What inspires and encourages us in these pursuits is often a connection or post from the Rain.

12/01/2007 02:53 PM by John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace)

There have been some interesting changes happening to the "tone" of the network but I don't think AR is a fad at all. Not sure where AR is heading but I do think it's here to stay.

12/01/2007 03:56 PM by Monika McGillicuddy~REALTOR®~ N.H. Real Estate Broker & Trainer (Prudential Verani Realty/Hampstead)

Hi Midori, Wow! I didn't realize that you actually joined a month before me. My first post was July 8th 2006. This place has certainly broadened my horizons. It has given me many opportunies that I would have never had without AR. That picture you have is really cool! Very creative.

Thanks Midori, Have fun with your rendezvous and enjoy the evening!

Midori,

For us it is purely a love-love thing :)

12/01/2007 08:49 PM by Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain)

Yup....all of this started with these guys. and look at me now!

Midori...if not for people like you who have supported and helped people along the way...where would I be? I got support from you from the VERY beginning!  That is what makes this community...the support we give each other....if not for a couple of people teaching me ...I would not be on google for my website, blogspot, activerain and localism....on the first page.

If not for ActiveRain....I would not have met any of the people who I've connected with. Thank you for you too!

Congrats on the spotlight over at FuelmyBlog.  Active Rain I believe has launched and fuel a few notable bloggers...I know I wouldn't be where I am without them.  Nor would I have met some incredible people.

Congratulations on your accomplishments. I have enjoyed reading many of your posts.

Midori,

Good post.  You really hit the nail on the head with your analysis.  I think that people have to embrace the technology rather than fight it.  I work with a company called Zipvo that allows realtors to upload videos for free.  They give the realtor a link back to their site and Zipvo is moving up in the ranks for real estate video terms.  I find it amazing how many realtors just don't want to take the step to embrace change and insist on moving forward on the old path.  Active Rain is a great place to really learn!  I've picked up so much.

(Thanks for commenting on "Today is my Latke Day" post)

12/02/2007 07:00 AM by Martin Abeshaus (ZIPVO)

Hi Marti-Its an exciting time...so much going on... and ready to take it to the next level.  I have really missed ya.  Glad you are busy!  The final results come this week sometime.  I have to check the date!  As of now I am 31 in the top 100 mybloglog problogger...to me just amazing...more valuable than points, more valuable than featured....it's yahoo...and I have growned my readership...to me that is what I am talking about connections around the world!

12/02/2007 10:51 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

John-I agree with you...I have been in some really great places from very large communties to newer communities where beta testing is going on...that is part of my point here...try new things out...even in beta...remember activerain in the early stages.  I think no one should give up their activerain..just keep adding and spreading yourself out there!

I am so excited, I am working on a new project..won't be unleashed for some time. For me...I may not have had the guts....or just quit and not follow my dreams. With the daily interractions on activerain...it was just reinforced...go for it...live your dream and it can be done!

12/02/2007 10:57 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Monika-yup, who knows what direction it's heading...and yes the tone has changed..been doing lots of thinking...and came up with this.  Our world is changing, maybe we are becoming much like technology as human beings.  Values have changed, dreams have changed and goals have changed!  Being behind the key board too much can definitely affect your day to day face to face interractions.

We had a horrible customer service experience last night at the resort where we stayed but yet the best at a local I Hop.  We are dealing with more and more people from everywhere. All with different upbringings, different traditions but one thing I know every human wants to be happy...it's just everyone's view on what will make them happy.....very different...

I think activerain are pioneers...with creation...there will be change...

12/02/2007 11:06 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Bryant-Not sure when exactly I started...for some reason...at that time you stood out in my mind.  It may be I didn't post until later...I just know...I have been here a long time!

The pic really does give credit where it's due...Activerain has been good to me.  Just think if it weren't for activerain...I would not have met you and the TLW and the rest of the awesome Florida Crew...to me...a life altering experience!

12/02/2007 11:09 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Gayle-I have microsoft office 2007...I need to take a class.  I want to utilize all the benefits...if you are going to spend that kind of money on software...why wouldn't I know how to utilize the software to it's fullest potential...you are just hurting yourself.  Technology has made my life simplier and able to perform the amount of tasks of 1 and 1/2 of me.  Now that is alot of activity.

12/02/2007 11:12 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Bob- I imagine it is.  For me it is not..it is a love hate thing...I love when I get good reviews by the number of comments and interractions...I love the number of my subscribers....I love the fact I am highly rated for most subscribed...I love the fact that I have so many more friends....I love the fact of more business...more exposure...google...I could go on and on.

I hate the fact I am so hooked, I hate the fact I don't care about the points, I do care about the points, I hate the fact that I built some great relationships with people and they fade out of the network.  I hate the fact the system changes...I hate the fact...that I love this place!  Get the message..clearly it's within myself!

I can see that this is a love-love thing for you...it definitely shows! :)

p.s.  Thank you for joining my community on mybloglog...it made me smile.

12/02/2007 11:17 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Sally-I have always felt that way about you...from your very first post.  I can spot a superstar!  One of my many talents.  I know you're confident, you are good...a really good human being.  Sometimes though..I just don't think you know truly what an incredible person you are!  You do...but you don't.  There is light...it's meant to be share...you just be my good friend Sally....and let that light shine...everywhere!  You will change lives.

12/02/2007 11:28 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Midori, well congratulations. I noticed that you are actually #7 on cre8Buzz.com ... I believe that the site actually states that it is exclusive right now while it's members gather their points. I'd say you are doing pretty well and to think you started right here on Active Rain.

Congratulations!!

Midori-  There's not enough people looking towards what this industry will be 5 years from now.  By planning your strategies progressively, you're always going to be ahead of the curve!  I think that it's going to become harder and harder to NOT have a strong web presence anymore!

12/02/2007 11:39 PM by Southern Maryland Real Estate~ Jonathan Benya (Century 21 New Millennium)

Hi Gena-Just checked cre8buzz... to my suprise.....#3.  Yes, I feel good about all of this..and yes I give my good old activerain credit!

Jonathan-I have to agree. Lately I feel like an internet trainer more so than a real estate trainer...but I do believe...its extremely important to know what you are doing online.  Yes we have to stay one step ahead..
