Holiday Season, Tis The Time For Hidden Inventory

The holiday season is the time of the year when the real estate market is typically slow. People tend to sideline their thoughts of buying, if there isn't a strong need, till after the New Year. They would rather concentrate on spending time with family and whatever else the holidays might bring them. In turn, sellers don't want potential buyers trampling through their homes, inconveniencing them, while they have a home filled with extended family for the holiday season.

So one option that many sellers take, who have their homes listed right before the holidays, is to withdraw it from the market. This does one of two things. It gives sellers a break from the onslaught of people rummaging through their home at open houses and brokers tours. And two, it stops the dreaded days on market counter that usually signals to buyers that a seller must be getting desperate if its been on the market for an extended period of time.

Therefore, the holiday season is an important time to elicit the help of a realtor if you're seriously looking at purchasing a home. With a number a listings disappearing off the public list of available properties, only a realtor will have the ability to find something off market that maybe of interest to the buyer.
