For those fortunate enough to call Portsmouth their home, or who are thinking of making Portsmouth their home, you couldn't find a better place to live!

We have the ocean right here, and we have the smallest coastline in America, but it's ours and we love it!!  The mountains are within an easy drive; major airports are an easy hour drive to Boston, Manchester, and Portland; Amtrak is a great option for stress-free commuting; and so much to do and see right here in Portsmouth itself.

Beautiful Fall Foliage in Portsmouth NH

Portsmouth is one of those towns that's just full of history every where you look.  And you would expect that, since Portsmouth was settled in 1623.  We still have homes that date back to those times, and many of them are still being lived in, having been lovingly restored.  Museums, galleries, parks, theaters, shopping, dining, and so much more for those who live here and those who visit us throughout the year......

And of course, we have the wonderful change of seasons here - four distinct seasons that bring with them magnificent displays of Mother Nature's magic!

As you can probably tell, I love living here in Portsmouth, and if you're interested in making this wonderful place your new home, I'd love to help.

Ann,

This is a beautiful post showcasing your community. I had no idea the east coast had so many condos. Your stats for 2006/2007 comparison looks unbelievably strong. Looks to me like Portsmouth is a great place to be to own a home.

I think Portsmouth is a great place to live! I would move into one of those Condos in a heart beat...especially one overlooking the water!

Ann, can you tell me the difference between a condo and a single family detatched residence? Sometimes when I watch HGTV they'll be showing a "condo" and it looks like a house all by itself. In Texas a condo is like apartments.

Your market looks unblievably strong! You do such a great job presenting.

Hi Lynda - thank you so much for that really nice compliment, and yes, Portsmouth is a really special place to call home.  And it's a great place to own real estate....my own properties have done very well!

Hey Monika - it would be fun to live in one of those, wouldn't it?  I'd take one in a heartbeat, too!

Hi Linda - Condominium is actually a form of ownership in common with others.  Under that type of ownership, you'll find a variety of types of condos - townhouse style (2 or more floors of living space), garden style (all on one level).  There are PUDs, which is a planned unit development, and these are detached units or cluster housing.  The land is owned in common but each dwelling is owned individually usually.  Those are the common types here in this area.  I know in NYC, and probably other areas, they have co-ops, but I'm not familiar with those enough to explain that.  I sell a good number of condos here in this area, so am very familiar with what we have to offer up here.  Did that explanation help?

Thanks for the comments!

Ann, thanks for explaining the difference. I'm glad that we don't deal in PUD's very much here in my area. I've actually never run into one, but land rights here in Texas are different than anywhere else. We actually have to be careful with Spanish land grants dating back a couple hundred years to be sure the people selling actually own the property.

 Love your Christmas photo!

I love you the best Ann~ but what is that on the stuff on the blue table? And someday, I'm going to go to a real lobster bake!

Hi Linda - glad that helped!  We do, on ocassion, encounter King's Land Grants, and those can be a bit 'interesting' for the title company.

Hi Dena - the plate full of food on the blue table is fried clams, french fries and a roll.  A heaping plate full of food there.  Real lobster bakes are yummy - make sure to take your appetite because there's usually a ton of food at those!

Ann, This is a wonderful look at condo living in Portsmouth. We listed a couple condos last year in Portsmouth and I loved them. They were in an older home that was changed from a duplex into 2 condos. I loved the old world feel along with the modern amenities and within walking distance to downtown. i could live in Portsmouth but agree with Monika that I would prefer to be along the waterfront.

Hi Judy - we do have some wonderful condos here in Portsmouth, many of them within an easy walk to downtown.  I sure wouldn't mind living along the water myself!  I bet we'd find a lot of people who'd love to live right on the water, too!

Thanks for your comments!

I'm enjoying the different market reports I'm seeing lately.  It's nice to see what's happening in other parts of the country.  The New England states have always been such a magical place to me.  I really like the way you've showcased your area.
