I showed a FSBO a few weeks back and although my buyer didn't go for it I managed to strike a good rapport with the owners.  In the course of things I did a soft sell to the wife.  She informed me that she and her husband were only going to try this FSBO thing for another week or so and then after Thanksgiving they would probably be open to being represented.  Since I live right down the street I was a natural choice.  Right?  Wrong!  Every day I kept telling myself to follow up, but, I got distracted by other things.  I passified myself about my inaction with the thought that they had my card and would call when they were ready.  Well, I guess that they are ready.   I went by the house yesterday and there is another Realtor's sign posted prominantly in the yard.  I know that I was a shoe in, but, I NEVER MADE THE CALL.

Hi, Gayle,

You've had a lot going on, lady... you probably dodged a bullet and you don't even know it yet.  It's been my experience that things usually work out just the way they were supposed to in the long run.  Maybe you will still be the one to bring them a buyer.  By the way, did they price it right?  If it's overpriced, keep in touch with your neighbors (nothing wrong with making friends in the neighborhood in my opinion) because they will probably come back to you when the listing expires.  Best of luck what ever happens!

We all do things like that and end up kicking ourselves.  Lesson learned...next time you won't hesitate.

Too bad Gayle,

Live and learn it happens to all of us, we just get caught up in things.

Yuck.. this happened to me recently. I was so mad at myself! I'm watching for it to expire, maybe then there will be a 2nd chance and if not we just have to shake it off and move on to the next one.
