there will always be the folks that want to take advantage of others.. your gut will help.. sometimes the best deals are the ones you walk away from... my mantra...
Always... Harry! You do the same ;)
Yes indeed... Mark, and sometimes you gotta learn to fold em'... know when to walk away and know when to run ;)
Mel
Trust is earned and can be lost very quickly. There are also people that can't be trusted and we need to stay away from them.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Mel, forgiveness is for us to move on, and sometimes with heinous things like you describe (and thank you for being open) maybe you don't want to forgive. Trust me, and phrases like to be honest, SOMETIMES, can be tips for BIG LIARS. Some people it is a habit and they are good people, but watch the ACTIONS following the words, then you know which.
I hear ya... Lou! I'm learning to spot the wolves in sheep's clothing a little sooner ;)
Gary ~ It took a long time for me to share the 'heinous' things 'openly.' I consider it therapy ;))) And ditto on... ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS!
Maya Angelou is a very smart lady. So are you and you've not only survived you have thrived. Now that is a WOW accomplishment my friend
Fabulous quote, Mel. I am sorry that these things have happened to you, but 'they' have not won because you have triumphed. I made the HUGE mistake of going into business with an unscrupulous woman who would tell anyone who would listen, "I don't lie, cheat, or steal." Of course she was a MAJOR offender of each of these, and cost me TENS of thousands of dollars until I wised up and realized that just because it comes out of their mouth doesn't mean it's in their heart. Blessings, my friend. Hope you are well.
Mel,
While a strong and faithful Christian, I too reach a limit when enough is enough.
That is when a favorite quote from Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan comes to mind: Vengence is a dish served cold.
I refine this to say, I have 2 sides on which you can be: My best friend or my worst enemy. And "trust me" when I say, mine enemy side is NOT where you want to be.
For I am extremely quiet, extremely cunning and devious, and very slow to boil, but when I do, it will be like the pressure cooker exploding.
Just give me about 30 days or less to post a blog about someone that really P___ed me off in a business deal and how I chose to deal with them. It will take about 75 days to slowly and quietly with lots of planning and cunning come together but when it does, they won't know what hit them.
I know they are trying to stop bullying in the schools, but if it wasn't for those bullies in school that picked on me I wouldn't be the strong fighter I am today. I wouldn't be the business person I am today if I was protected from what goes on in the real world.
Melinda, a very wise and well-credentialed Realtor observed this of their credentials "(they) don't mean a whole lot unless I'm able to earn your trust and confidence. That's where I get my real kudos!"
Now that's someone who's trustworthy! Brian
You always make me smile John! Thank you for your words of encouragement!
OMG... the pic made me LOL! We live and learn from our mistakes, don't we Mimi! Now, if we continue to repeat the same mistakes, we deserve to be spanked!
I'd like to think someone or something else will do the vengence thing Kev... it's not my specialty. I'm sorry to hear someone is pissing in your cheerios... I hope you're able to write about it and release it... you'll feel better, I promise ;)
I think you have a blog just waiting in your noodle to be written Todd! Life's tests and trials make us stronger... and you, my friend, are a shining example of that!
Oh Brian... I'd like to talk to that 'very wise and well-credentialed Realtor' and take a few lessons ;)))
Trust is earned and that's all there is to it Mel. When someone says "trust me" there's no way they'll earn it from me after that point. It's my telltale to move on!
Mel - If you can forgive those who tresspassed against you in such a fashion - you are indeed a strong woman. But you are right - holding on to anger, hate, etc. is like pouring a glass of poison and drinking it yourself. It's best to let things go and simply be mor cautious in the future.
As Ronald Reagan said "Trust, but verify."
And I do believe what the Wiccans teach - that everything you do comes back to you threefold, so be careful about the thoughts and actions you put out into the world.
I totally agree Kevin... and I like your Floridian style... movin' on ;)
I know no other way... Marte! I like what Ronnie had to say... it's short, simple and sweet! He was a wise ole' cowboy!
sometimes, a little "return of evil" can be soooooo cathartic.
(oops, did I say that out loud?)

Brian
That made me LOL... Alan! Happy Birthday... my 'return of evil' friend!
Leave it to you... to remind me... of being me ;))) Funny & Sweet.... thank you Brian!
Mel you are for sure an inspiration to all, I enjoy your life lifting post, the funny side as well and all you do for the A/R people like me. Happy Easter.
Mel ~~~ you are too kind... let the memories of journey's past travel with the song of the wind...embrace the unique you in the now...trust you must...the destiny of trust has many faces...
"It is not true, it is not true
that we come on this earth to live
we come only to sleep, only to dream".
Miguel Leon Portilla
Thanks Charles... your comment lifted my spirit today ;)
