Problogger screenshotWhile scanning through Problogger tonight, I found a fascinating guest post from Lorelle VanFossen titled Readers vs Visitors - Whose Needs Are You Meeting?

I first heard of Lorelle when I met Matt Mullenweg, the 23-year-old founder of WordPress at BlogWorldExpo. Matt recommended Lorelle's blog as a great source for WordPress tips.

In this article, Lorelle clearly differentiates between Readers and Visitors, then shares her ideas on how we can meet our readers' needs. By keeping these tips in mind as we write, we'll improve the quality of our content as well as the response from our readership.

Thanks for the tip.  The article has peaked my interest as to how I can get information from visitors as to what they were looking for that they did not find, or what other information would be of value to them.  Anything to help future visitors.

John, thanks for the links.  It's so important to keep in mind who we're writing for.  I'm writing for my future clients and try to aim my posts at them.  Writing in the Rain is a little different in that I throw social posts in for my buddies. What fun!

Thanks! I watch my stats and I'm still trying to figure out how to utilize them properly.  It had never occurred to me-sadly-that it might be important to know which browsers and such my readers are using!

very good info I have got out of the habit of reading Lorelle and Problogger both.

I have a hard time with knowing what all the browser info should mean to me.  I've long known I should be paying attention to how everyone sees it but I think she adds a lot of common sense to the discussion, you can't please everyone and the searchers for info that don't become readers is probably not the one I want to be swayed by too much. Another thing to juggle...
