Celebration to Support Public Education in Canton MA

It is that time of year again.....time for the annual gala by the Canton Alliance for Public Education, a/k/a CAPE.

CAPE is a non-profit organization, run entirely by volunteers, whose mission is to provide funding for those projects and programs in the Canton Public Schools that are not able to be funded through the regular school department budget.  We all know that these are trying times for municipalities everywhere so the need for additional funding is more important than ever.

Since 2004, CAPE has awarded over $165,000.00 in grants.  The types of programs funded are as varied  as the students who attend our schools and as innovative as the teachers and administrators who educate our students.  Every school in the district and every grade level has received support from CAPE over the years. The programs that they have funded in the past continue to benefit our current students.

This year CAPE is holding its Dinner Celebration on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Canton's own Brookmeadow Country Club from 7:00 pm - 12:00 pm.  Music will be provided by local band Half Wiggum.  In addition to music, food and fun, there will be a variety of silent auction and raffle items to bid on.  The cost of tickets is $50.00 per person or $450.00 for a table of 10.

CAPE's ongoing support of public education in Canton MA is dependent on the continuing support of the Canton community - both businesses and individuals.  Many businesses have already stepped up to the plate and made generous donations in support of this annual event.

This year CAPE has made it easy both to buy tickets or to make a donation to the event by going directly to the CAPE website and paying online.

Come out and join your friends and neighbors in this annual fun night out for education.  I hope to see you there!

This sounds like a really important program.  I am especially heartened by you saying that local businesses support it.  What a concept.  Business supporting public education instead of corporations trying to privatize it. Quality PUBLIC education is, I believe, one of the last defenses left to us to save this country and our way of life.  Thanks for the post.

This is a very worthwhile program to support Christine. Investing in kids is investing in the future.

Leslie...our local businesses are very good about supporting the schools.  They get asked a lot too.

Malcolm....without a good education for our kids, there's not much future, is there?
