UAW to fly ANTI-Romney Banner over the Daytona 500 * I doubt we'll see it on Fox

UAW * United Auto Workers will fly an ANTI-Romney banner over the Daytona 500 tomorrow afternoon.  I doubt if TV viewers will see it as the race will be televised by FOX.

The premise is that had Romney's "do not bail out Detroit" advice been followed, there would be no cars in NASCAR......NOT TRUE.

FORD * 2 of Jack Roush's Fords are on the front row tomorrow, did NOT take the government bailout.

DODGE * except for 2 Penske cars and Robby Gordon's single entry * are the ONLY 3 cars in the 43 car field....Dodge has not supported their teams for several years and is almost completely out of the NASCAR truck series.

CHEVROLET * BowTie drivers * are fielded by Rick Hendrick, DEI * Dale Earnhardt/Chip Ganassi * Richard Childress and while they may have manufacturer support with some elements of their teams, they build cars from the ground up, manufacture their OWN engines and the ONLY resemblance to a "street car" is the decal * NOTHING about the cars that run in NASCAR resemble the cars assembled by the UAW.

TOYOTA * Nuff Said - they are not union and Japanese manufacturers employ over 400,000 US workers in 29 plants and 34 R&D and design centers.

NASCAR * over the past decade * has had discussions with VW and BMW to sponsor cars in the sport.

I just was alerted of this by you so I googled it and found the banner will only fly for one hour from 10:30 to 11:30 am way before the race starts. Freedom of speech is always good that is what separates us from other countires with dictatorships.  Capitalism does have some attributes.

Voters have their work cut out for them to scrutinize every candidate because we have too much to lose this time around and we REALLY need to get the show on the road!

Things seem to be moving at a snails pace and then money wrenches keep being added.

I think we need a genius--what are the IQ's of these candidates?

Once I read the tallest man usually wins but this is not 100% accurate just something that happens often as we choose tall for leaders like a pecking order of sorts.

MY POINT is is that the UAW has virtually NOTHING to do with NASCAR.  NASCAR cars are EACH made specifically by the NASCAR teams, in their INDIVIDUAL shops - mostly in and around Charlotte, NC and except for the possibility of some of the parts, there is virtually NO UAW labor involved and the auto bail-out certainly did not have anything to do with NASCAR.

Wallace:  I do not believe any sports venue or concert for that matter should be used as a platform for political advertising.  I would have been appalled if the Super Bowl allowed political candidates to advertise.

I once went to a Bette Midler concert and was offended that she used the stage to make a political rant.  Not one comment. An entire dialog.  I paid to hear her sing.  Not hear her opinions.

If one political position is allowed then all must be allowed. The UAW can take out billboards if they want.

The race is a private enterprise and the attendees pay to watch the race.  If I am paying for my seat I do not want to be inundated by political statements or ads.  I come there to be entertained, I expect to see Valvoline ads - not anti candidate ads.

Mitt will be at the race today and for the UAW to attempt to REeducate NASCAR fans that the cars on the track have ANY relationship to union work is LAUGHABLE.

Wallace, that last point is the best.  Nascar fans already know about those idiots in Detroit.  How about someone telling the UAW to allow employees to opt out of the union if they are so concerned with workers rights.

Wallace,

Now if NASCAR would only get off their ethanol kick. Is it just me or is there an uncanny resemblance between the ethanol logo and the Obama one? :)

Steve * I'm not a big fan of burning our FOOD; however, I suspect this will disappear once it becomes something that the "consumer" won't support.
