I have found that I have several reasons to convert documents to PDF (portable document format) so that almost anyone can open and read what I've written. The most frequent need has been the conversion of listing and service flyers I have created in Word and are being sent to the title company who has volunteered to distribute them (Thanks again Jamie and Janelle).

I've found two online sources to convert my documents and best of all they're FREE

http://createpdf.adobe.com/ and http://www.pdf24.com/

You might also want to check out any one of a number of PDF print drivers.  I personally have had good luck with the one from PDF995.com which lets me create a pdf doc from virtually any application that I can print from.

Lynnette, Another option is OpenOffice.org.  Their equivalent product for Word will convert your .doc files to PDF with the click of a button.  They offer an entire office suite of software and it too is all free.

I've converted nearly all the forms on our website from Word documents into PDF files.  Some people don't have Word on their computer, so they cannot open those documents.  PDF software is available to everyone for free.

Don, Joseph & Rob,
Thanks for sharing these alternatives. I'm definitely going to check them out. I'm setting up a new website and need all the possibilities I can find.

Lynette- I use http://cutepdf.com/  I haven't tried it with anything but forms, but it is very easy to use. thanks for the tip of putting things into PDF to give Jamie and Jennel, I usually just gave them the word, or Publisher doc, but see where this is a benefit :) :)

glad to see you in the e-PRO Group :) :)

Hawaii was great.....one of the highlights was having breakfast with 3 of our AR members that I have been reading since joining, and going to find the big green sea turtles with Sally....I will be writing a Post tonight (if I can stay awake long enough) or tommorow for sure :) :)   Hey, I missed our big rainstorm ......and the move of our escrow company, so guess I'll be coming to Yucaipa next week.......

I use cutepdf and love it.  I've been using it for 4 years.  It is very easy to install and use, and it's free.

Ohhhh these are good.  I may have missed this but is there a way to edit a pdf document once you get it?

12/05/2007 01:01 AM by Rosemary Brooks -Mother & Daughter (866)-750-8282 (Family Realty Group - 866-750-8282)

If you do a google search on the words edit and pdf you will see a myriad of pdf tools and software.  The only way I have edited a PDF file is by using the full version of Adobe.  Perhaps someone else here has used some other tool or software and can enlighten you more.

I second Don Stern's comment on PDF995.

It can be found at download.com

It's free and you can indeed convert PDF files from any document you try printing.

Thanks for the source Chuck! There have been many times that editing a document I'd already converted would have been easier than editing the original and then converting it again.

As mentioned earlier, the Open Office platform has some great features.  In fact, just do a search for "open source" and the software you are wondering about, and you may find an open source alternative.
