What BONUS?  Techron.

You heard it right folks! That's exactly what I meant and it's not far from the truth. I went to get gas today and stopped by a Chevron gas station to fill up my tank. Well, there was a sign at the Chevron gas station with the phrase, "Every gallon comes with an added BONUS".  At the bottom of the phrase was one single word, "TECHRON".

I thought that was a clever way of advertising. I realized that this phrase can also be applied to any business one has. If you give clients or customers something extra, they will remember you and thank you. Moreover, the possibility of them referring someone to you will increase in ways you would not imagine. Ask yourself. (Caution: Don't do this out loud in public because people might think you are weird and losing it.)

What separates me from my competition?

Why would anyone select me over another person for the transaction?

Is it something different that I bring to the table? Why should you hire me?

Think about it. You need that something extra to stand out.

Be that gallon with the added BONUS. Add TECHRON to it. Your clients will love you for it.

This bonus can be in the form of paying for the seller's home warranty if you're representing the seller, paying for the buyer's home inspection if representing the buyer, taking a listing at a reduced commission (yeah some do), giving clients a small gift after closing, etc.

Dave:  Very clever.  I started advertising that I would pay for home inspections a couple of months ago.  Doesn't seem to have made much impact but I'm going to keep it as part of what I do.  To me, hard work, continuous effort, and being forthright will eventually secure the referrals but it takes time to build a relationship with enough people for it to work.  So far, much of my business this year have been from referrals so it's working.

Donna,

Thanks! That is true that continuous effort will pay off through time. At that point, referrals will come in.

Dave- From many comments I have seen you make around the Rain....I am not surprised you read that advertising, and came up with this Post.  I have been impressed with several things you have said...usually thought provoking, or honest, sometimes educational. thanks......

I always try to come up with innovative ways to be remembered to clients and it always comes back to the same thing - regular contact,  Karen  www.e-virginiarealestate.com

Kathy M:  Thanks for the generous compliment!

Kathy K: That is true. Regular contact is important and a good practice to continue to do so. Many agents do tend to let it go and forget about this through time.
