We never lose all our flowers in northern California, but the early winter certainly knocks back the variety we normally have. The last few weeks have seen the emergence of flowering trees with pinks and intense white blooms that light up the scenery. Another one of my favorites is the early bulbs. We have some narcissus that we bring inside for their scent, but nothing compares to the daffodil for marking the return of the sun.
We have them blooming here in Virginia now too. A little too early but they are so pretty and just make you smile when you see them!
Poor flowers don't know what to think. We had 2 inches of snow last Sunday and highs in the 70's by weeks end.
Have a great day!
Oh, I can't wait to see them here in Massachusetts. But for now, I make myself happy by buying them in the store:)
Oi. That is beautiful! I love the sunny Daffodils. They just make me smile.
I love the reports of daffodils from other areas, including the snowy ones. This is one indomitable plant...
Morning Dave, As a Michigan transplant I miss the emergence of the spring flowers. Certainly appears to be a very mild northern winter !
Hi Dave - Nice Photo. We're still maybe 3-4 weeks weeks away from any colors out there other than greys, browns and dark greens. It hasn't been much of a winter, but our plant life has learned - the hard way - not to be too optimistic about when the last snowstorm has come and gone.
Daffodils are the very essence of spring, and their range is the whole temperate zoned world. Love them and that is a great photo!
Dave,
Daffodils are the bright happy messengers of spring. Driving from Napa to Healdsburg, I remember them popping up all over the sides of the highway. A
