Today my family and I hiked along the head waters trail that lead through the old mile town site of Falk, CA.  This town was built over a hundred years ago as a mill town and featured residents numbering 400 people at its peak.  The town went under during the 1930s depression and now it is preserved for the salmon that swim through and as a great hiking trail for residents of Humboldt County and Eureka, CA.

The first mile or so of the trail is all paved in black cement and pretty flat and smooth.  Along the trail, there are markers and sites that showcase places along the trail that the town people of Falk use to live and work at.  If you get a chance, take a drive on Elk River Headwaters exit on Highway 101 and go all the way to the end where the park is.  For more information about the trail http://www.humboldt-county-lines.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=231&Itemid=53
