Hi Y'all! The 55 visits were me trying to get this right! Please, if you are even growing close to "seniorism" please comment. Thanks, Deb

Debbie, I remember most of it but World War II was before my time.  I do remember the first person in our neighborhood who got a color television.  We just thought it was so cool.  I also remember going out in the hall for the bomb drill.  Cute post!  Brings back the memories.

Thank you Marchel, WWII was before me too (thank heavens) but I remember getting to go to a neighbors house on Sunday evenings to watch color TV! I think we've earned the right to be CEO'z. Or, CEO'zzzzz, which of course means we're napping! I hope you are doing well. Deb

This is a great one with lots of links for a trip down memory lane.  Thanks for the memories.  What did they think hiding under the desk was going to do?  lol  KInd of like wearing a seat belt in a plane crash.

I did duck and cover drills in first and second grade. That was back in the days when you would still here a good loud sonic boom on occasion, and new the Air Force was protecting us against those nasty Soviets.

Yeah, I was there for most of that (missed WWII), and I don't want to be a senior citizen- that's my motherat 84. I'm 56, and I still don't really know what I want to be when I grow up (but I'm doing RE in the meantime).

Yes, you watched all of that - and with so many facts to remember - what's a few years?

(Wasn't that 2001 when Bush gave that speech?)

HI Deb,  very very nicely put.. im in the senior moments, I remember the bomb drills, one of my most horrific moments was watching Walter Cronkite tell about the Kent State tragedy, I couldnt believe my eyes, american soldiers shooting american STUDENTS.. definitely the day my view of my government changed. Sorry for the sad memory but when I look back at some of those turbelent times our country went thru in its growing pains, Kent State comes to my mind. But I remember when DISNEYLAND OPENED in 1955 too! I wasnt at the event but my best friend across the street got to go that summer.. wow I was sooooo happy for her and a bit envious too.

Wonderful!  As I look back over all of these, I realize that I've been out of school for a number of years.  Thanks for the memories!
