Steak and ShakeSteak and Shake hmmmm its pretty good but worth an hour wait?

So on attempt #4 to get a taste of an old favorite that is now open here in Denver, Steak and Shake, I happen to be running an errand during a snowstorm and was so close I figured "no way could there be a line during this" but lo and behold THERE WAS! Luckily only about a 10 minute wait, mind you DURING A SNOWSTORM?!?!?! a 10 minute wait, but I decided to wait and pick up an order for my crew since I was out solo.

SO I bring back the PRIZE 2 bagfuls of Steak and Shake that we had been let down multiple times trying to stop in before. Everyone excited and in shock and as we take that first bite we go... "OK this is good but seriously how on earth is there such a frenzy over this"? Maybe its the fact there are so many east coast and Midwest transplants here that enjoyed it and have not seen it since but I have to believe those who don't want to wait will be able to stop in without the 1hr+ (standard) wait.

As a little tip, the guy at the register told me, when I asked about any better times than another to stop by, "Yeah if you swing by between 10:30p-Midnight there usually is not too bad of a wait" (LOL)!?!?!?

So there you go... if you live in Denver or anywhere close and you want to enjoy a classic Steak and Shake you can pop in a little before midnight to avoid the hour wait. Just don't eat too much and go to bed too soon or that food will surely be packing on the pounds.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

What a cool name of a place.  I have no problem waiting for an hour if the meal is something I am excited about.

Nope, it is good but certainly not worth the hour wait.

David- we have them here and when I get a craving for a burger I'll head there.  I kind of remember that years ago they were in Houson and it was like an old fashioned drive=in.

OOOOHHHH.  I understand the frenzy if one just arrived there.  I still long for the fries and the vanilla shakes.  Had them in Florida but not here in Sylva, NC.  BooHoo.

I've never heard of them, but these days, I would probably agree with you. In my drinkin' days, we didn't care. We would just have a beer and wait. Look at all of that money I am saving! HA!!

Hi David - Reminds me of when Krispy Kreme came to Denver. I grew up with Steak & Shake - one spring break in Daytona I ate every meal there for 5 days - but I agree that it isn't near the best burger anymore - that would be SmashBurger, IMHO.
