Some may wonder why exactly a water well company is on a real estate site. Water Well companies actually deal with real estate companies on a weekly basis. Many towns often require home owners to test the quality and quantity of a well before selling. Or perhaps the buyer wants to do their own testing before hand. Regardless it is important for real estate agents to keep contact with their local well companies.

 

 


 

The most common form of testing is a quality and quantity (flow test). A quality test will inform you if the well has drinkable and safe water. A quantity test will let you know if the well produces enough water to be useful, and is in correct working order.

 

 

 

Hopefully all these tests are clear, and the well is ready to go. However that is generally not the case. 70% of the time the well comes back with bacteria, or other contaminants the owner didn’t even know was in there. And as soon as the test has been done showing contaminants the well must be cleaned and re-tested according to local and state laws. Unfortunately on occasion we get a well that is completely destroyed and a new one must be built.

 

 

 

           


    Wells can be a huge selling point to some people, having your own (and free!) source of water is a real blessing.  Try adding a well house on top for looks, and to show the house even has a well. And keep in contact with a local well company (I promise we don’t bite!), they can prove extremely useful now and again.
