Not everyone watches TV at night. I WAS one of those until the last few years when I discovered I had to find something my husband and I could do together that didn't require much effort or conversation.  Anyone who knows my hubby, knows he loves TV and is not much on conversation.   And...I wanted something that was easy and didn't take much effort...thus TV time was selected as our time together.

Of course, Clay, being a man, has to control the remote.  Guess that's a man thing.  He flips from channel to channel constantly, watching 3 or 4 shows at a time.  Now that's not the way I like to watch TV so we agreed we would select one or two shows a night that we could enjoy together and I'd have the remote control during that time, if needed.

Through the years, we have agreed on several shows.  Our number one pick is '24' with Keifer Sutherland.  On Monday nights when it is on, I will not answer the phone or leave the TV unless the house is on fire.  We love that show so much.  What I like about it is the action....there's so much action and excitement that I get hyperactive just watching it. And....what is scary is that this kind of terrorism probably goes on all the time and we just don't find out about it.  I guess Jack Bauer (Keifer) is always working on keeping us safe....  Can't wait for the new season to begin in January.

We also like these shows:  Survivor, LOST, Jericho, Prison Break, Big Brother (yes we like reality shows), CSI, Law and Order.....Clay watches all of them.  Then we eat every evening while watching Wheel of Fortune...now that's telling my age.

We enjoy this lifestyle so I guess it's okay. We use the TV shows as topics for conversations.  My husband laughs at me because I take these shows seriously, like I am there or know the people.   I get involved. I used to think TV was a waste of time, but know I see it as bonding time with my favorite friend, my husband.

Now Active Rain members....what are your favorite TV shows?  Surely some of you watch TV.

I am more of a movie fan myself.. I don't even know why we subscribe to TV sometimes.

OY YEAH... stupid shows like dirty jobs and that one where they blow up things... Mythbusters? bleck! lol

Anywho my hubby and I don't watch the same shows unless its CSI or a good Indie film on IFC (which by the way shocked me that he likes that channel 8-P)

I like to catch up on Will & Grace reruns and shows like Most Evil... but I mostly watch movies if I'm going to watch anything :-)

We're TIVO addicts.  We watch a few reality shows and news magazines, but everything has to be on TIVO delay!  I can't remember the last time I saw a commercial...It doesn't matter what's on TV, all that matters is what's on Tivo!

Be of service!  The rewards will come!

Don't get too excited about 24 starting in January just yet.  Production was suspended due to the writer's strike.  Sorry to burst your bubble.  Once the writer's strike is resolved they will be able to continue writing and producing new episodes.  And, the producers will only run the show if they can run all 24 hours in a row without interruption.

Seinfeld!!!!

I know, I know, not a current show, but it's on every night at 10 and 10:30. My wife thinks I am crazy. I can still watch an episode I have seen 20 times, know every word to, and crack up. I love that show. I know almost every line. It really is an addiction..........I can't get enough. The beauty of that is I don't have to worry about the writers strike!!! and I know the ending!!! :)

We are not much of a TV watchers, but when we do we watch Discovery Channel and stuff like "Mythbusters", things like that. I used to love the show "Everyone Loves Raymond" and to this day watch the re-runs.

Sara Lee, CSI seems to be enjoyed by a lot of people I know.  Movies are great.

Matt, I'm not quite 'with it' on all technology. I know of TIVO but what does it do?  Does it record shows and omit the commercials???  Is it an attachment to hook up the the TV?  I know I"m showing my ignorance but we don't have a TIVO.

12/03/2007 07:18 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Mary S. You know what? I forgot about the writer's strike.  They need to get back to work and busy writing.  I'm tired of watching reruns....boo hoo

Hi Bob, I actually enjoy watching Seinfeld also.  It's good to laugh and the show IS funny.

12/03/2007 07:23 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Mana, I also enjoy watching some of the Discovery Channel shows, depending on what's on.  I enjoy the animals. And...who could resist Everybody Loves Raymond?

Bonnie, Las Vegas is good.  I think my husband watches it while I'm on the computer.

12/03/2007 09:14 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hi Kay, I can't believe that I haven't watched one of the show "24"  I am going to rent them it from comcast.  I am hooked on "The closer"  The thing is I am not much for TV but I do like that show.  I love Keifer Sutherland so why haven't watched it? I just don't know.  It could be that my husband dominates the clicker. That is it.

Kay - I would choose "The Office", "Scrubs", "24", "American Idol", "Seinfeld", "Curb Your Enthusiasm", and "Mythbusters".

Hi, Kay

I have a great compromise for the position of Remote Commander.  We two remotes (satellite), so Kathy has one and I have the other. She can change the channel but I can kill the sound or the other way around.  haha  We have a few moments of absolute silence every once in a while.

As for favorite shows.... 24 is good, CSI Miami, The Office, Digging for the Truth (History Channel) and Kathy LOVES American Idol... more for watching the out-takes than anything, I think.

Hi Pat, Once you start watching 24, you will be hooked.  I missed the first season and bought the DVD.  I watched it all the way through (about 20 hours) without stopping except for breaks.  I was so hyperactive after that, I could sleep for two days.  It was SO suspenseful.

12/04/2007 07:48 AM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Kay,  I guess if there was a show that made me think about where I needed to be and when, it would be "The Amazing Race"  I love travel , so this really appeals to me.  I keep saying that my Husband and daughter should submit to compete, but I can't get them to agree, and it would take time away from earning a living for both of them.   I do get involved with the contestants and the different things they have to do, and feel sad when something out of their control defeats them.  Their involvement with other cultures and their resourcefulness is so much fun to watch.  Other than world news I don't get very excited over TV these days.  Oh, I just thought of something.  If I catch  "are you being served?" or "keeping up appearances" on the public channel, I will stop and watch.

Some of the best tv shows ever:  Seinfeld, WKRP in Cincinnati (yup, I still love it)

I have DVR now so I never have to watch anything I don't want.  I also mostly watch movies, LOVE the Independent Film Channel.  Also addicted to Changing Rooms on BBC America and Trading Spaces.  The Henry Rollins ShowThe Sarah Silverman ProgramAbsolutely Fabulous.  I do watch CSI (Las Vegas only).

Two series' that I loved but never even watched until they were over & I bought them on DVD were Six Feet Under (best finale ever! - well Seinfeld's was good too) and Queer as Folk (seasons 1-3 were the best, got a little too obvious after that).

How's that for an answer!

Kay I am really sorry to admit it... I don't watch much TV.  I like Fox news and Basketball... and when Khris forces me ( Lord forgive me please)  we watch DR.Phil or......Oprah recordings made while we are at work.  yuck!

I have watch some of the "24" episodes and they are very believable

Jason, I see 24 is on your list as well.  It is so realistic.

12/05/2007 05:48 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Jesse and Kathy, You love American Idol also?  We do too.  We watch just about everything.  Two remote controls....well.....that's a thought.

12/05/2007 05:50 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hi Stephanie, Knowing you I can agree that Amazing Race would be of interest to you since your were in the travel business and have been everywhere.  Wow.

12/05/2007 05:51 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hi Chris, Steinfield is always a good one to fall back on.  Looks like most realtors don't watch much TV but I see several people liking some of my favorites: 24, American Idol, CSI..

12/05/2007 05:53 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hugh, My husband watches all those when I'm not watching.  I stay on the computer more than watch TV but I must have my special time with hubby....  Politics and the election is becoming more popular in our home....only we are on oppositive potical views....so it makes for lots of debates between us.

12/05/2007 05:55 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Trey, Actually Kris is smart...Dr. Phil IS a good show. Sometimes when I'm home during the day, I'll watch it.  Never cared much for Oprah....sorry...  but I must say that she DOES do a long of good things with her money...which she has lots of.  I believe she is one of the richest (or the richest) in America and the most influential woman in the U.S.??

12/05/2007 05:57 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Jonathan, I'm pleased that you watch 24 sometimes.  I wouldn't miss ONE espisode.  That's one show that if you miss one show, you've missed a LOT.... I also like science fiction movies and romantic comedy shows.

12/05/2007 05:59 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Kay, I don't watch much television but what little I do watch we have similar taste.  I was a little disappointed in 24 this last season but have enjoyed it in prior seasaons.  Last year I could not figure out why my DVR was recording and it was the new season of Lost.  I will be glad when I see the DVR recording that again.  The only other show that I watch on a regular basis is Eureka on the sci fi channel and it has a really short season so is already finished.

Kay, So then I,m guessing i'm probably of the same viewpoint as your husband, tell him to keep his eye on Huckabee

12/06/2007 06:42 AM by Hugh Krone Sussex County NJ Century 21 Realtor (Century21BillSemmens)

Marchel, I was also disappointed in last season's 24.  Keifer wasn't on it that much and there were more than one story line.  I hope the next season is as soon as the rest.  Since we have similar tastes in TV watching, guess we could share a remote control.....

12/06/2007 03:52 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hugh, Yes. It's a MAN thing....they have to have control over the remote.  I'll excuse you and Clay since you are men.....ha.  We can't live without you guys.

12/06/2007 03:53 PM by Kay Perry (Classic Realty/GMAC)

Hi Kay! I watch my shows about 3 weeks after they are on! I have a DVR (Digital Video Recorder, like a TiVo) so I can fast forward through the commercials. At this time I have about 50 shows recorded that it will take me another month or two to get through! I do like a variety of shows, but my favorite stopped making new episodes last year, and I haven't found anything to really replace it yet.

12/06/2007 04:05 PM by Allison Werner (To Be Announced)

Hi Alison, I was upset when Jericho was cancelled by the channel.  I guess I like to watch them in real time because that's the only time my hubby and I have to spend time together - after he gets home from work.  I like just about anything on TV now. I don't have to think while I'm watching it.
