A survey conducted by the USPS tells us that 76% of respondents will take action on your direct mail only when it is convenient for them to do so.

Are you giving your readers a place where they can go to view more information about local and national market statistics on their own time? Perhaps you are sending them to your blog or your company website. Chances are good that when homeowner views your direct mail piece, she is not quite ready to take action.

Wow! That's a pretty interesting statistic. I'd always heard it was 2-4%. The key word obviously is convenient!

I thought the stats were more like 2-4% would respond and out of that 2-4% 76% respond to convenience?

Food for thought ...

Just to be clear, the 76% is not the total response rate.  The respondents simply said that in order for them to respond, the marketing piece would have to make it convenient to them to do so.
