(Below is a repost of my original post about the event with the dates updated.)

Paint the Town RED, an event sponsored by Keller Williams Realty Southwest in Austin Texas is scheduled to begin next Sunday, Dec 9, 2007..  1:00PM-4:00Pm.

Paint the Town RED is a city wide opportunity for every homeowner who has their home listed with a Keller Williams  kw agent to be a part of a  CITY wide open house, Hundreds of homes open for viewing, what a plus for home buyers to be able to view the neighborhood that is exactly what they want.  Maximumizing exposure to buyers and for sellers.

Not only is it open to prospective buyers many Keller Williams agents will be touring those neighborhoods.  So Mr & Mrs Homeowner, many agents will be previewing your home for their clients in neighborhoods different than their normal route.car

Last month we, Keller Williams realty in Austin hosted this same thing, we did a huge full page newpaper ad and all the other stuff one does to advertise an open house.  Collectively we had 118 open houses in one day, it was  a HUGE SUCCESS ... counting the numbers of signed in guests.   The ad said sign in at a house and you are entered into a drawing for gift cards of up to $200.  Some of the homes held open DID SELL that day.   We are committed to our sellers to do this thru Jan 08 and perhaps longer.

This is a great example of 'bringing the market to the buyers' instead of waiting for buyers to come to you. It must take a tremendous amount of coordination between sellers, agents and offices, but your results show that it may be worth it.

John, Thanks for stopping in...  I think the biggest co-ordinating was up to the people getting all the agents who are putting homes in the newspapers... the cost was split between all so the amount was small and the return will be enormous.  It has brought about a certain BUZZ in our market center among the agents...  which is a great thing in itself. Alot of positive energy flowing around.

I read the same blog as BLR Guy.  There is some reallly negative feelings among agents regarding open houses.  I think they are still effective when marketed or as a collective event.

HI MaryAnn.. thanks for stopping in.. I know that open houses don't usually sell that particular house, but sometimes they do.. and we meet prospects in them.  I hold only Staged or Vacant houses open, I don't want the responsibility of an owners possession with the public randomly walking thru.  Just my phobia I think.  I should go check out that other blog and see what their experiences were.
