I am sitting here trying to make sense of the day.  I can't believe that my last blog was #50.  It doesn't seem possible.  I am still a newbie to this entire process!  Our dogs got out the front door this morning as we were getting ready to leave for the office.  We have 2 lab mixes, their favorite game is tag, especially once out into unfenced freedom.

We have a lot that is a little more than a quarter acre with a large backyard.  The younger dog loves to be out there running around.  The older dog, well not so much, she will go out and play for a little while then she has been out of the house enough, that is unless she can get out the front door into the openness of the street and the neighborhood.  Once out there, the race is on.  After about a half an hour and a couple of blocks traversed a few times, we were able to gain control of the dogs once more.

When we finally put them back into the house, my first thought was man, am I out of shape.  That is my first thought after trying desperately to catch my breath.  I do alright walking, but running, let's just say that a person doesn't get to look like me doing a lot of running.  To be brutally honest, I don't do enough walking either.  Today was a reality slap to the face, I need to get my body back into some semblance of decent conditioning.  I am thinking of seeing a doctor for a physical then begin walking briskly everyday.  I now do a lot more ambling than brisk walking, and I know that part of my dogs smile wasn't just the joy of running free, but the laughter of the fat guy(me) trying to catch my breath.

I think back, it wasn't a huge thing that got me where I am physically, it was a couple of days of not walking, followed by a couple of more, which were followed by several hundred more.  There was a time that I walked 3 miles every evening as quickly as I could walk it.  It is amazing how few days it takes to get out of good habits.  I am talking about walking, but it could be anything.  I hope that none of you need a slap in the face to remember to get back to doing the things that you need to be doing to take care of yourselves!
