Seattle is known more for it's drizzly, and rainy days especially in winter.  But this year we got a Christmas Season surprise with a day of snow flurries on December 1st and in the middle of a Saturday afternoon of Christmas shopping.  Since I was not holding an Open House at one of my listings, I was enjoying a day off.

I was out with a friend shopping for Christmas decorations at University Village when the snow began falling...it was beautiful.  Something I  had always wanted to experience, Christmas shopping with snow falling!

Finishing up at University Village, we went to Target in West Seattle and enjoyed seeing the homes in West Seattle transformed into shades of white and gray.  Driving the long way back, we drove along Beach Drive along the Sound, then around to Alki Beach and back to Seattle.

The snow only lasted until the next morning when our normal Seattle rain washed it away...a snowy day of Christmas shopping has now became a wonderful memory.

Hi Norma - It was nice to have such a special day off, my first weekend day off in a couple of months, thank you!

I miss the snow and cold weather being here in the Desert, glad to hear you had a nice day off. I am going to take a day off and go shopping!!! And I think I'll turn off my cell phone!

Hi Elaine- I am not originally from Seattle, I am from Tucson and grew up in San Diego, so snow is a special thing to me.  The idea of it actually snowing while Christmas shopping (and having a day off!) was magical!  Snow on the beach, unbelievable!  Enjoy your day off, and shop in peace  :  )

Deborah, What a great way to spend your day off enjoying a little Christmas snow and shopping.  I grew up in Pittsburgh, so I don't like the snow or rain but I love to see pictures of the snow.  Thanks for sharing with us!

Hi Roberta, I can understand why you don't like snow and rain! I grew up in Arizona, and San Diego so snow and rain are exciting to me.  It really was a special day for me, thank you!

Hi Karen,I am glad you like the photos, thank you!  I always carry my camera in my purse, and I am always taking photos.  Sometimes I have to drive back around to get a shot that I missed while driving.  My friend was very patient with me every-time I asked him to stop so I could take a photo of the snow!

Hi Ann, We don't often have snow, so it's special when we do.  Of course it also means that Seattle drivers are not good at driving in the snow, that and the fact that we have many, many steep hills makes it extra challenging too!
