Austin entrepreneur, Dylan Schleppe created Drive Buy Technology to offer mobile marketing solutions to real estate professionals and other owners of service or sales businesses. I've been covering his mobile applications because I believe 2008 to be the year mobile technology takes off.

Notebook_nowhere Mobile technology will change the way businesses communicate with customers, especially real estate brokers and agents. KXAN picked up Dylan's story and are scheduled to shoot a segment at one of my listings this morning around 8am specifically about text message marketing of listings. If all goes well, the story should air tomorrow night.

I've been called the Mobile Marketing Diva™, not because I can sing and am overly-demanding, but because I am secretly becoming an expert in mobile applications by working with local solutions providers to deploy their technology in 2008.

(Update. This story was picked up by NBC National). Click to View Full Sized on Blip.tv or at KXAN Austin.

I am interested in this as well.  I do think you are right, the mobile technology world is taking off....BUT...we cannot forget the whole world does not operate this way.

Take for instance my parents.  They are still very active and in their 60's.  They have no and have never owned a computer and probably never will.  Now they do own a cell phone...but texting?  Yeah, right.

Using that as an example shows us that we cannot forget that the whole world does not operate completely by computer, sometimes we must do things the old fashioned way.

I remember reading a article about you in the Upfront magazine from Keller Williams! Nice article and seems that you are doing well!

I follow what you're saying with listings being mobile. Being able acess information on a home on the spot makes you look like you're on top of the newest technology!

Some may differ. I feel the combination of both are necessary. I do agree the hotlines don't work being in the age where we want everything instant is critical, especially with buyers.

Dee - I think we need to do both - have mobile capabilities for those who want it, and keep paper flyers for those who prefer their information that way.

Dee, I have never, in almost 20 years, used those flyer boxes.  I like your idea of texting, though, I don't do that either, I think it is good.  Maybe, that will be one of my New Year's resolutions.  Start texting!!!  I do have a Treo 700W(for 2 years)now, and never texted with it :)

It's a Good Life!

I've been asking other agents what they think about home hotlines. Top Teams are moving away from them. They're advertised as "toll free, 247 information without calling an agent", which is basically what a website is for. If you're in front of the home and don't want to talk an agent, that's what text is for. It's also good because the information and link to the flyer are still on your phone.

Dee, Text messaging is the way to go especially with young buyers.  I am very interested in this service and I am going to look into it.  Great info and it was great for you to be on the news segment.
